Terrible experience. 5 months after the deposit had been made no one has shown up. Broken promises of when they will. I canceled and they seem to not have enough money to refund my deposit. Do not use this business!! As the owner stated below I did get a quote a few years ago. I never agreed to go ahead with the job. I called back this year to have it done. Excuse after excuse why they couldn't come out. I also have several voicemails with dates that they were going to come out. They never did or call to reschedule. I have asked for my deposit back but the owner doesn't have any money to refund me. My deposit should not have been used until the job was done. Also he requested the deposit 2 weeks before the start of the job. I agreed in may and paid the deposit June 25 2018. It has been way over 2 weeks. I don't think asking for a refund almost 5 months after the deposit had been made is unreasonable. The fact the owner will not refund after saying he will is ridiculous. UPDATE: 10/22/2018 The owner Justin Cayton Refuses to refund me still. He told me in text messages that he would refund me this week. Now he wants to take it to his lawyer. He doesn't seem to be an honest man as he claims. He is not going above and beyond to satisfy a customer. Do a Doxpop on him and you will see this isn't the first time he had to be taken to court. UPDATE: 10/26/2018 It has been 1 week since I was first told I would get a refund. The owner has refused to pay it back. No job has been started and no refund has been made. I have been lied to many times by this place. UPDATE: 11/01/2018 Still no refund. I have been told that I have one coming but I have yet to receive it. UPDATE 11/07/2018 A week ago Monday I was told I would have my refund in a few days. Here we are 9 days later and no refund. I'll keep posting updates until this is resolved. UPDATE: 11/12/2018 2 weeks ago today I was told I would have my money in a few days. I still have not received a refund. UPDATE 11/20/2018 It has been over 3 weeks since Justin, the owner, told me I would have a refund in a few days. I guess delays are their specialty. I have not seen anything else from this company, if you can call it a company besides excuses. UPDATE: 11/28/2018 I contacted the owner Justin today and asked if he had my money ready since he told me on the 29th of October he would have it to me in a few days. He responded that he does have it but he got a threatening letter from my attorney. The letter was simple and only stated to please pay me or my attorney in 10 days or we will file a lawsuit. Just another excuse from the owner. This business is a complete fraud. Steer clear!!! Update: 12/3/2018 We are now in December. Justin has lied to me since the start. I still have no refund from him. He is blackmailing me with my refund to remove this review. He will only refund me if I remove this. That is keeping my money not doing the job and he expecting to get paid if I leave this review up. This is fraud. I will be taking him to court. I will let the public records show how hard it has been to deal with Justin and Sycamore Painting. Save yourself time and grief and hire someone else. Update: 12/18/2018 Still no refund. No communication. Justin refuses to refund me. He has not responded to the BBB or the police. The police are investigating him for contractor fraud. Don't fall victim to his crimes. Update 1/1/2019 Still no refund. No work ever done. Complete criminal operating this business. Don't fall victim! Don't let a criminal into your home. Be safe and hire a real painter contractor. Update: 1/3/2019 Company has been revoked from the Better Business Bureau because they will not responding properly to this case. You can look up their review there as well. Update 1/9/2019 Justin Cayton the owner has been arrested and charged with Home Improvement fraud and Theft. Still no refund 4/26/2019 Update 8/6/2019 refund received from the Vigo Co Clerk. Owner Justin Claytons bail money was used for restitution after he plead guilty to home improvement fraud and theft. We wanted to use these people for painting jobs, but they will not respond! We think one of them showed up drunk to an estimate. They are not professional.

ETA: the business owners reply is clearly blackmail by withholding the deposit to remove accurate and honest reviews. By the way, this is my residence as well.

The painters were prompt and very courteous. They went above and beyond and provided many extras.
