Love this place! Best German food I've had

Absolutely love this place. Loved it when they first opened up in paoli. I spent a few years in Germany, although I don't remember any of it due to being so young. But their food is great, the atmosphere is awesome and it's even better when I get to go there with my parents... have never left disappointed or hungry.

Beware of per plate surcharges and a belligerant, platinum haired waitress. Our billing for two was presented at about $5 over the amount based on the printed menus prices. When asked about this the waitress stated the upcharge policy was posted, inside at the entrance. I suggested it might be a good idea to also post the surcharge notice in the menu. At this point she accused me of treating her like a slave.
She carried on a tirade of words to the effect: That she was a server, not a slave, did not have to tolerate being treated like a slave; tossed my credit card on the table, told us we would be "escorted out", I chose to no longer speak to her as she obviously irrational. We did find the inconspicuous notice inside the entrance. It was not posted as part of the outside menu display.
The Jaeger Schnitzel was off the mark: It was more of a large, breaded pork chop (Kotelett), not a pounded flat Schnitzel; the sauce was a pasty gravy with salt the dominant flavor, no mushrooms visible, about four thin strips of red bell pepper and two over cooked traces of onion; the Kartoffel Puffer were oil laden hash brown "fingers". For the real thing go the The Atheneum Ratskeller or German-American Klub (both in Indianapolis) or Schnitzelbank in Jasper.

From the moment we walked in I knew they cared about our experience. We walked in on a holiday weekend and they let us know about the wait for food. We chose to eat at the bar. Everyone there worked together to make sure our needs were met. The daily special, Smother Schnitzel, was AMAZING! Their breaded and deep fried pork tenderloin was smothered in brown mushroom gravy, topped with asparagus and covered in mozzarella. I opted for the fried potatoes with the added sour cream and applesauce. Our other plate was the German goulash with noodles. We finished everything off with a dessert plate. We ordered one of everything. They were all great! You cannot leave without the apple strusel or my favorite German chocolate cake but then the red velvet cheesecake is amazing and I just loved the black forrest cake. Wish I had a whole black forest cake now. Even the cook came up to grab something and asked if we were having a great time. We sure did! Thank you everyone there. You can tell you love what you do and your customers do too!
