Spring of 2012 I seen a sign in front of the Auburn Headstart "now accepting applications for ages 0-5 years old." We stopped, I spoke with Mr. Kyle., Mr. Kyle took my information then set up a home interview, I was about 4-6 months pregnant at this time. Mr. Kyle enrolled myself & my oldest son into the program. Soon, Miss Patty became my Early Head Start home visitor. Visited once a week, she walked me through month by month of my pregnancy of my second son (M) answered any & all questions that I had, she even brought me snacks. Once my son (M) came 7/2012, Patty came once a week and gave me goals & milestones & worksheets for my son (M). It was great to know what to expect, things that my baby should be doing. We would set family goals together, she helped me fold my baby clothes, baby blankets & would just listen to my baby stories. Miss Patty had resources, very knowledgable, loves children, has so compassion for her families.
8-10-2012 my oldest son (J) who was 3 at the time, started Head Start in Butler, he was so excited and so were we! He thrived! Learned his Abc's. Learned how to write them, say them. Sing them. Learned his numbers, write his name, first & last. Learned all of his colors. Then went to Head Start again the following year. Head Start really prepared (J) for kindergarten!! Amazing program! Both of his teachers names were Miss Jennifer & Miss Andrea. "The Zoo field trip was fun (J) said, he loved the bus ride"
December 2012 we had a tragedy!! We had a house fire, devastated, we were put into a hotel immediately. Miss Patty showed up the very next day at the hotel with resources and ready to help!
We became pregnant with my daughter and had her 1/2014, again Miss Patty was so resourceful and helped me with goals & milestones for my daughter, as she did for my son.
8-2015 (M) started Headstart at the age of 3, my middle child here in Auburn. (M) adored Miss Amanda his teacher, and she him! Miss Amanda & myself made goals for my son together. Miss Amanda is a wonderful teacher, I have requested for her to be (M) teacher again the following year. "The ride on the bus to the Zoo was the best (M) said!!"
2015, Miss Patty took a Career change and is now working with children in the combo 2 classrooms, was no longer a home visitor. (C) got a new home visitor Miss Donna, she was pretty awesome herself! She too would get down on the floor and play with (C), sing songs, read books, do crafts, set goals & Milestones.
2016 Just as (C) got to know Miss Donna, she too took a career change. (C) got a new home visitor Kelly, my kids LOVED her!! Kelly will get down on her knees & elbows and play in the sand box with my kids! Miss Kelly does what all the home visitors do as I mentioned above, reads books, brings puzzles, we play outside, sing songs. Miss Kelly adores my children & they adore her. Miss Kelly has resources, is knowledgeable, we set family goals, & milestones. My children looked forward to the snacks. Playtime is so much fun, Miss Kelly is their jungle gym. (C) especially enjoys the books that Early Head Start gives to her to keep. We will surly miss you when (C) goes to Combo 2 Head Start Miss Kelly!!
8/2016 (C) headed into Classroom Combo 2 Head Start. Miss Patty and Miss Jami were her teachers, she was very excited. We as her parents looked forward to see her blossom.
Early Head Start & Head Start has impacted our daily lives by helping educate our 3 children since early 2012. We have developed long lasting friendships with our children's teachers, teachers aids, home visitors & staff throughout the years. My husband and I highly recommend Early Head Start and Head Start to all families, pregnant mothers and with children ages 0-5. Without this program we would not have been able to give our children the importance of pre-school education, we feel that's necessary in this day and age. We were so thankful for our Early Head Start & Head Start Family!
(C) is now in 4th grade
(M) is now in 6th grade
(J) is now in 9th grade
