The Laurels of Goshen

The Laurels of Goshen took excellent care of my husband while he was there. They became part of our family. I would highly recommend them!!!

I do not think I belonged there for the length of time I was there. The food was good. There was not a lot of opportunity to share with others other than at meals. Some of the people did not have good communication ability. I had some good time with some of the people at the dining table. Most of us were not there for a long enough time to develop commuication fellowship.

I worked here a few years ago. I'm hopeful it has changed since then, but back when I worked here it was an absolute mess. Biohazard containers sitting in the garage for months. Staff refusing to provide adequate care. Worst of all. I was severely retaliated against (forced to resign) by management for advocating for a resident; then (when my concerns were ignored) advising the resident/their family to contact the ombudsman as well as the state.

We are working on a transfer from another facility. The gal returned my call on a Saturday... So impressed by that simple fact....unheard of these day.

The facility was very clean and modern. The nurses aids were very nice and helpful. There was one nurse who should not be working there. Her name was Mel. She called me a liar and always wanted to argue. The one night I needed someone to help me with a bathroom situation. I kept pressing the call button and ringing the bell and no one came. I finally used my cell phone and called the front desk and asked for help. It ended up me lying in wet and fecal all night. They had a man come in the morning to clean me up. It was humiliating.This was only one situation. I had gone to the doctor on the 13th of June and he released me to go home. They took me back to the facility at 10:30am. I didn't get to leave until after 6pm. because of paper work. It was a horrible experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone.
