My son had an angulated fracture of his distal radius and ulna on the same wrist he had previously had a buckle fracture. The doctor clearly did not review the current x-rays because he put him in the exact same brace he had for his buckle fracture. He made it very clear that he did not want to listen to my son or I when we tried to bring up the fact that this was not the buckle fracture and spent maybe 5 minutes in total with us. There was no after summary, no conversation about pain management, he didn't even really check the injured arm before or after putting the brace on. Within 20 minutes my kid was in excruciating pain, when I reached back out to office about dosing for ibuprofen they said that the doctor told them that his pain would be worse with the brace and no further dosing recommendations or treatment options were discussed or given. When he was in the splint the ER put on him we able to manage his pain fairly well with standard dosing of ibuprofen after wearing the brace nothing is helping. Due to the lack of care provided I decided to follow up with his pediatrician who confirmed the notes from Dr did not match the x-rays done in the ER. He stated that this brace was completely ineffectual for the type of break and is not considered standardized care at all. He recommended we immediately take him to Riley or ortho indy because the bone was not angled correctly for healing in the brace and was super concerned about compartment syndrome due to the nature of the break and lack of actual care. The office stated that a doctor would call me back but that never happened and now my son may have a longer recovery or a more extensive treatment in order for it to heal correctly. Underwhelmed is putting it lightly as far as I am concerned this medical negligence bordered on malpractice. If you VALUE your health or kids health I would recommend Dr. Ordaz as he was amazing, but steer clear of this provider at all costs if you want to avoid unnecessary bills, lack of bed side manner, and ineptitude of the highest degree.
