I have used Alter Tax Services, Peggy Alter, for many years (10+ years). We just learned that she had not been taking our deductions for rent. Then when confronterd, she stated she was giving us a "discount" on her fee. She was beyond unprofessional & rude. She told us she "ate" the loss. She's charged us $175 when she charges $223 to do the taxes, not once mentioning this was a discount, as in her fees were higher than what she verbally expressed. Point is, she made mistakes on our 2023 taxes & only fixed when we told her. I explained to her that I was recently diagnosed as Autistic, & needed her to slow down & explain things. She was NOT understanding of my disability, especially when pointed out HER mistakes as a professional CPA within our tax paperwork. She also said she missed the deduction because she was "visiting & talking". She was not professional at all on the phone with us. Upon further inspection,. & asking her to review, it was discovered she didn't do the proper rent deductions for 2022 either, costing us additional money as the taxpayer. She said she's send us a check & to never come back again. We told her we would let everyone we know about the unprofessionalism. I DO NOT recommend Alter Tax Service. After this, I'll stick with the franchise.
