Associated Dentists of Northwest Indiana

I've been going to Associated Dentists in Merrillville for 4 years. I absolutely HATE dental work but each time I go to Dr. Kmak it is a wonderful experience. Cheryl cleans my teeth every few months and I swear they feel amazing for like 2 weeks after my cleanings. I will never go to another dentist.

I'm giving 4 stars. I walked in and was greeted right away. They were nice, professional, and friendly. The Dr was great. He explained everything I needed to know. I will definitely be returning, and I would tell friends and family about this location

For YEARS.. Ive had a phobia when it came to seeing any Dentist. I would take 1/2 of a Valium, just to calm myself down. My first visit to Associated Dental was by way of a referral from my other dentist. Let me just say, that was the BEST referral that Ive ever had. When I moved, I was literally excited that Associated Dental Office was in my network I had my 2nd deep cleaning appointment's on Tues, March 12th with Dr Kmak and assisted by Kirstin. Its probably only the 2nd time, in my Life that Ive gone for a cleaning because of my fear of dentist. I told, Dr Kmak on Tues., that we have a love/hate relationship because I hated going to the dentist but since coming here, I love feeling relaxed, confident and good about having ANY type of procedure done, Even a root canal Dr Kmak, understands my phobia and communicates with me about the procedure/s Im having before starting any dental work. Couldnt ask for anything more, Id refer anyone whos looking for a good dentist to make an appointment with Dr Kmak. VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL OFFICE STAFF! OFFICE MANAGER "MINDY" IS THE WORST AND VERY DISRESPECTFUL! My children were seen here and have been for years and all of a sudden I receive a letter stating "one" of my children have no insurance..?...? Ok , weird so I call to figure out what's the issue. Again I'm told he's not insured. "I know he is..". So I call then insurance company and I'm told that he's insured, and they instructed me to have the office call the insurance company/or resubmit the claim. I then call back the office and share this information. I'm now told that this is MY responsibility and I need to fax them proof on insurance, they're not going to call or refile a claim. Of course I'm shocked and not sure why they can't rectify this situation so the office manager "MINDY" is put on the line. She has an attitude and repeats what I've already been told. I explain to her that I already called the insurance and everything is fine. They would like your office to either call them or resubmit the claim. She (Mindy) now says "we're not doing that, this is your responsibility to have insurance (which I do) so you can either have them send us a letter of eligibility, pay the full amount or we'll just send you to collections! This was all said in a "snotty" little attitude as if I was wasting her time. I then asked you her boss was and she states " the owner". To make a long story short, after contacting the insurance company and calling the office on three-way, we spoke to another office employee and it comes to our attention that the dentists office filed the initial claim under someone else's insurance not mine. They never once apologized or anything. Bottom line this office isn't very customer friendly. They make a mistake and then attack the customer threatening to send them to collections! Very sad!

This is the dentist my insurance chose for me. Called and got their voicemail, left a message, they never returned call. Used their website to set appt, they called to get info and said appt was not set. After setting appt with person, got call saying my insurance was not valid. Called insurance and it is valid. Called dentist back, they couldn't find where appt was set. Also said I wasn't on their roster. Had insurance call them and confirm insurance is valid and I am on their roster. Got a call from Kylie today saying insurance is expired and I'm not on their roster. Called insurance, policy is valid and I'm on page 7 of roster. Kylie is rude and incompetent. She claims she called insurance and got an answer in a couple minutes that I wasn't on roster. This is a lie. Insurance company proved this. I wouldn't trust this dentist to loan me a pen let alone touch my teeth. If they are this disorganized and incompetent with scheduling, can't imagine how bad they are at everything else. Don't go here. You'll regret it.
