Small Company of 5-6 drivers. VERY HIGH turnover Rate. Why? Because the pay is trash. They tell you they pay you by Hourly. But Pay you by Tonnage. How? So John is the Owner & he wants you to Run 8-9 loads of Slag a night from US Steel in Gary,IN to Skyway Cement Company LLC in Chicago,IL. And you get to Us Steel before 7pm when they start loading trucks. Its you and probably 15 other Dump trucks waiting to get loaded before taking off to Skyway Cement.Thats about a 30-35mins drive in between and were not counting the waiting time to drop the Load. Now John and Joe the Manager will Pressure you to get them 8-9 loads and push you to your limits! 7 loads is fine but they get greedy & dont understand people get tired. You cant pull over and take a rest break or you will definitely hear about it!! In order to get them loads you have to Disregard the Speed-limit. Seriously!!! You have to drive like your life is in the line. WATCH OUT FOR THE DRIVER ,TIM if he is still there! They pay him more than $30hr. He is the Eyes for Joe on the road. A Big Fat RAT! He gets close to you , only to run back & tell Joe everything you say negatively about your position or pay or the company. HE IS NOT YOUR FRIEND!! If you continue to get 7 Loads, they will bring you into the office and have you re-sigh a new contract stating they will pay you by Tonnage instead of Hourly. That way you will get paid based off your performance instead of hourly. Which means you have to work harder to see a nice check of $1400. Oh also they discipline you for any little thing instead of trying to talk with you. Remember Tim has Higher Seniority and he gets paid more than $30hr. And he will always tell you why the position was vacant how guys would slack, no its because he RAT guys out and help get them fired! Dont trust that Snake!! Oh and The Owner John swear he doesnt make money off the Trucks and Loads we run but we all know thats a Fat Lie. Thats his way of not wanting to pay you what you deserve.
