Just moved from the south suburbs of Chicago, IL as a first time homebuyer. It was an easy and seamless experience once approved. It's quite different from the townhome association I grew up in and it's different from what I expected. I didn't want a single family home for myself, but I wanted more space than an apartment and didn't want to pay the same amount for a condo. I also didn't want to move anymore. However, if I could make the decision again, I might choose a single family home. I for sure wanted an affordable new construction home and had been following the builder plans for over 3 years before everything aligned for me to get what I got when I did. Perfection isn't easy to achieve when everyone's definition of perfection is different. There are pros and cons to everything and I had not thought through all of the compromises before making the purchase.
