Clark Middle School

1 star for adjusting my daughters schedule when she was struggling with her classes. However, do not go through the school for mental health care. Clark is contracted with a mental health facility Edgewater in Gary, after my daughter had some struggles with her mental health, it took Edgewater facility over a month to contact me about getting an evaluation, not an appointment to see a therapist. I called once a week, every week and was unable to leave a voicemail because the voicemail box was full, they did not respond to any emails I sent. The day they called, was the same day my daughter had an appointment with an actual therapist (after rescheduling twice), that I found through friends and coworkers. -5 stars for their "policy" on bullying. The guidance counselor assured me that "they take bullying very seriously", he proceeded to have a meeting with my son, walked him to the cafeteria and point out the group of girls that made fun of and teased him. My son even told him who is a 2 leaders of the group were. I received a phone call later that day, telling me that there is too many children and he didn't know the names. After which the bullying got worse, to the point of my 6th grader talking about dropping out of school. He would be in tears every day that I drove him to school, he couldn't ride the bus because a child kept calling him homosexual slurs,  and nothing was done about that. The last straw was when a boy took my sixth grader, his backpack threw his papers all over the room and stole his water bottle. The teacher scolded my son for making the mess. After that I told my children, eff that school, the faculty, and the kids that go there. They had a lovely two extra weeks of vacation prior to Christmas break. Now my children are in a charter school, and we could not be happier. Thank you to Clark for showing my children how terrible some people can act and get away with it, because it's easier to turn a blind eye, then to deal with the issue.

I am in fifth grade and it is the best school ever i love how the teachers help you if your stuck on something and they are so amazing im so glad im in this school they have awesome events and the school is beautiful and has lots of space if you are looking for a school to go to i really recommend this school
