My son attempted to get a small personal loan from his bank recently. He only wanted $700 to purchase a new piece of furniture. Old National has a rule that you cannot borrow less than $2,500.00 and he told them he only needed $700 so the woman suggested he ask for $2,500.00 and make his purchase and then use the additional money to pay down his loan a whole lot faster. So, he decided to go ahead and apply. Well, they turned him down. He is on SSI because he was injured severely before he was even 18 years old. He has taken out a few personal loans from a different bank where he banked before he switched to Old National, and he paid those loans off very quickly, so he should have really good credit. I know his credit is not bad, but they turned him down for not having enough credit and they were concerned he may not pay it back, even though he specifically requested that they set up AUTOMATIC PAYMENT WITHDRAWLS so he would not have to go in and make payments. They would have gotten their money back every month, on time. What aggravates me is that the day he applied for the loan he received a call back and the girl told him that there was a fraud alert on his SSN because his current address did not match their records. *Turns out, the next day, we found out WHY his address did not match their records. The girl had asked him how long he had been at his current address and he said 5 years, but she typed in 14 years! So of course that led to the records not matching which led to the fraud alert. After he was denied the loan, the woman asked him if he wanted to take out a line of credit. But here is the catch: If he wanted $700 from them then he had to first prove he had $700 of his own money. I ask you, how in the world does that make any sense at all? If he had $700 he would not have requested a loan for $700.00. So then she told him he should ask his parents to co-sign for his loan. Heres the thing: I cant stand Old National Bank, and he opened his account with them 5 years ago, against my better judgment, so YES, his father and I could have very easily co-signed for him, but we refuse to do business with Old National Bank. In fact, we could have loaned him the money ourselves, but he wanted to take out a bank loan to Build his credit because he knows that Mom and Dad wont be around forever to help him in a pinch and he wanted to do this on his own. It turns out it was a blessing that they did all these aggravating things. Yesterday, I am pleased to announce that he withdrew all his money from Old National and opened an account at another bank! I do NOT recommend this bank.

If there was a way to leave a zero star review I would. I've been with old national since 2016. Just yesterday I asked for a loan wanting $700 but they force you to borrow a min. of $2500. So since I needed money and the payments were affordable I did the loan application. And when I got off the phone at 2 PM I was told I would know soon Well around 3:30 I got a call saying the loan people couldn't verify my address well I confirmed my address and I was told she would email them and let them know and call me before they close. Well never heard anything so at 10:30 this morning I called and discovered that the original lady who did my request was gone so another person was helping me. So I found out she never responded to their request to confirm my address so the new lady told me she would do it. Over another hour passed before she called to tell me that she confirmed my address. And also told me that there was a fraud detected because even though I clearly told the original lady I've lived at my current address for five years she told the loan people that I've lived here fourteen years which didn't match their records. So needless to say I got denied. But they didn't even let me know I had to call and ask for a update. I regret the day I ever started banking here. Nothing but incompetent workers who need to do their job better.
