UPDATE (1 STAR), 8/2023: Prior to making a 900 mile road trip from Iowa to Georgia in August, I took my 2000 Toyota Sienna van to Wheelock's. I told the owner about my upcoming trip and asked him to check out my van, and change the oil, replace the brake pads, and rotate/balance the tires. Upon arriving in Georgia and turning into a parking lot, the slight squeaking I'd noticed on the trip during tight turns when I'd gassed up was now very loud. I made an appointment with the mechanic shop that a car-savvy friend has been using for many years. My friend's mechanics found a number of issues: The front end suspension was shot and needed to be replaced, there was a rat's nest in the air cleaner (before I left Iowa, my dad had found a dead rat in the back yard where I parked my car), the battery was bad (turns out my two-year battery was well into year three), the oil was low to the point nothing appeared on the dipstick (my bad for not checking it and relying on regular oil changes), and the AC needed to be serviced (way overdue). I was very fortunate to have made that 900 mile drive without having a breakdown, or at the very least a dead battery in the morning after two overnight hotel stays. So I've changed my five-star rating to one star. I would not recommend Wheelock's. ORIGINAL POST (5 STARS), 12/2022: Wheelock's was recommended to me by Bobby, Central Iowa Towing (separate review) after my van wouldn't start while staying at an Ames hotel for several days. Bobby towed my van to Wheelock's and after performing diagnostics, they determined that my car had flooded as I'd idled my car multiple times while parked but then hadn't driven it, causing the fuel to build up (lesson learned!). I'd called a couple of other local shops but was told they were booked up for a week. Even though Wheelock's was also very busy, they were gracious enough to take the time to check out my van. They also did an oil change. Kim picked me up at the hotel and after returning to their shop I was pleasantly surprised to receive a bill only for the oil change, and no charge for the diagnostics or courtesy pick up. I'm going to be returning to Wheelock's in the near future to have them install a backup camera in my van. It's so refreshing to do business with an honest, fair shop with great service. I highly recommend Wheelock's!

We broke down while on vacation, with a flat tire due to a broken wheel liner dragging on it. We were towed in to Wheelock's at 4:30. We were on the road with a used tire and trimmed wheel liner by 5. Vacation saved! Thank you, Wheelock's!
