Emily was our doula for both deliveries of my kids. We had the best possible experience and would recommend Emily to anyone! It really makes a huge difference to have an experienced doula at your side during the labour.

I had Hannah encapsulate my placenta after my second birth. She was extremely professional and had excellent communication. She took great care to protect my placenta - I gave birth during a heat wave, and she arranged the pick up schedule to avoid taking the placenta out in the heat. The encapsulation process was pretty quick, and Hannah arranged to drop the capsules off at my house, answering all my questions about how to take them. I can't recommend her more highly!

I had a great experience with both Hannah and Emily at Iowa City Birth Services. I had my baby at UI Hospitals and Clinics, and the labor was 12 hours. It was nice that they were able to attend to my needs in 'shifts'-- Emily took about 8 hours, and Hannah was there fore the last 4 hours. Their energy level really helped me through all the contractions. When I was uncomfortable, they were quick to recognize and suggest a new position. At most hospitals, you are not assigned a consistent nurse or medical staff to be with you the entire time. To fill in the gaps, doulas are very useful. Although my birth did not go according to plan, they were extremely supportive of all my 'last minute' decisions.
