I want to take a moment to recognize Kayla. We called to find out more information about assisted living. Summit Pointe did not have any openings, so she really didnt need to take more time to talk with us. But Kayla took the time to recommend several other places in the area and a local senior living specialist who could help us find the right care for my mother-in-law. She probably had no idea how much she was helping us at a really difficult time. Her knowledge, patience, and generosity made such a difference. Sometimes we have no idea how much we are helping someone with a kind word or a helpful gesture. Thank you, Kayla, for being a difference maker! We really appreciate it!

My family member stays here, decent place but looks outdated, new maintenance man is very nice and experienced, overall a good place. NEW UPDATE EDIT: Summit Pointe Senior Living located in Marion, IA has been open for about 20 years, and almost nothing has been updated. Some of the rooms are still using 20 year old carpet and appliances. They do not care about your loved ones who are put here. The kitchen is in terrible condition, the floor is dirty, the ceiling tiles are grease stained, and the floor is just covered in grease. There are water stains in the ceiling tiles in the hallways, indicating pipe leaks, some water stains which are fresh and unrepaired for months at a time. The fixtures in the rooms are 20 years old, and falling apart, the lights are constantly flickering, and went unfixed for 3+ months. They claim to have a water softener, but my Aunt (who no longer lives there, thankfully) had a faucet which was completely corroded and would shoot out brown water for the first 3 minutes of turning it on. The hot water is VERY hot, but doesn't get hot for 5-10minutes+. The downstairs garage is dirty, there is garbage everywhere, damaged support beams, and dimly lit, there is NO love or care in this place. The management is ONLY here to make money, now of course making money is their goal, but it shouldn't be there only goal. They should and need to care about the people who pay good money to stay here. However some of the staff who work here are very nice and helpful, and are just doing their jobs. It does seem like the people who really care and want to help, keep leaving. After reading some of the negative reviews, at first I didn't believe them, but after my Aunt living here for 5+ years, I can confirm they are mostly true.
