Yesterday, a worker called the Police on my best friends niece over stealing chocolate, when in fact it was just her phone. The worker did not stop and ask us prior to calling the cops if she had stolen anything. They couldve just asked us in the first place to empty our pockets at the register if they were concerned, but instead escalated straight to the police, who didnt tell either of the adults what was going on until after they had already questioned the teenager. We wouldve been more understanding if they had asked us about in in the actual establishment, instead of scaring us with the Police. If the Cops had explained what happened to begin with, we couldve let them know her niece hates chocolate and had no reason to even attempt to steal it in the first place and my best friend paid for everything. I was with her the entire time and I do not condone stealing.
