EDITED: 1/8/24: I hired Javier Portillo, d/b/a Prestige Home Improvements, LLC, to remodel my bathroom, build a kitchen addition, and install my new kitchen. The review below was made AFTER he finished my bathroom. Little did I know he was on his best behavior until he got the "big bucks" from my kitchen remodel. He started on my kitchen 11/1/22 and then began complaining about other customers yelling at him, hounding him to finish jobs, and calling repeatedly. I thought he was talking about customers that refused to pay; but, no, he was referring to customers that had paid and yet their work was left uncomplete by Javier (there are multiple reviews against him online now). I signed a contract with to be his "sole" customer/home project, but he didn't honor that. Instead, he took off for weeks at a time to work other projects, work on his own home, go on countless vacations, and to purchase/renovate flip houses. Probably with ill-gotten gains from everyone in town he had cheated. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and urge anyone else he has wronged to do the same. I've also hired an attorney to seek legal remedies against Javier Portillo, d/b/a Prestige Home Improvements, LLC. While Javier did make great suggestions and completed several of the had tasks that I hired him for, he neglected to finish the job. Also several, several! of the items he did complete now need repairs, i.e. leaking roof, leaky faucet, drywall and trim errors, deck problems, landscaping, grading issue that now causes leaking in my basement!, etc. FYI: the only tasks he did actually complete were b/c I directed his efforts instead of giving him free reign. Additionally, he will not return (basically stolen) my cabinetry, quartz countertops, hood vent insert, flooring, and other building materials I have purchased and have cancelled checks as proof. I have called daily (literally every. stinking. day.) since November 7, 2023. He had agreed on that day to be at my house the next day to install the finished cabinetry and countertops, etc. He never showed and he stopped answering my calls and texts. Because I am a good person and believe he can still redeem himself, I am graciously giving Javier one more week to return my belongings (until 1/15/24) until my attorney takes legal action. I would even settle for a simple phone call with filled with contrition and an honest day/time that he can complete the job; or at least return my belongings. A police report will be filed at the end of my grace period and my attorney will proceed with the lawsuit for negligence, theft, breach of contract, and other damages. I will update review at that time. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE!! be careful if you're considering hiring this man. He has the tongue of a serpent and lies, lies, lies. I cannot count the number of promises he's made me since his hire date of 8/26/2022. It does not take 16 months to complete a kitchen/bath remodel. Ironically, he initially promised to complete the whole project in 3 weeks. I called b.s. to his face and told him he had 3 months. He said no problem, thats more than enough time! Turns out the City of Mason City doesn't trust him either. Definitely do NOT allow him to touch your electrical system!!!!!!!! He fried my furnace and a/c units b/c he overloaded the circuitry. I'm lucky it didn't start a fire. That was a $9000 oops. ALSO: I want my house keys back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! INITIAL REVIEW: 11/1/22: Javier is a joy to work with! He is a magician with power tools, a gifted artist with tiles, a designer with windows, an author of vaulted ceilings...I could go on and on!!! He made fabulous suggestions to enhance my plans during my kitchen and bathroom renovations. I love that my job was his only project demanding his focus. He really knocked it out of the park!!! Sooooooooooo thrilled with my new home.

Only showed up twice, did some damage to a/c, plumbing, siding, and then went completely silent. It's been over a month and we have not heard back from him. Do not recommend.

They refuse to return calls and refuse to show up to finish the project. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND! I've had to have a professional plumber come in and fix what this company did and it's still not completed, as all of my money went to this company. Sheetrock, carpet laying, tiling, grouting, doors ALL horrible. So disappointed. Don't let him scam you. Services: Tile work installation, Home renovations, Bathroom remodeling

I will give him a good rating for installation of tile but did a sloppy job on toilet installation. Talked a lot of doing the right thing but towards the end did not do the proper thing. Even forget to install water hose. Service: Remodeling
