I want to start with we have a Lab from Kishholm that we got a year and a half ago (Jan 2022). He is an AMAZING dog. He has been such a blessing to my family. This Spring (2023) we decided to give him a sister! So naturally I contacted KishHolm again. I definitely wanted another one of their dogs. I tried to get one from the same parents as our first. His mom had been retired but his dad still had litters. From my first contact with them this Spring I told my husband things were different but not different enough that it raised red flags for me. We discussed what sex and color dog we were looking for and they had one that fit our needs and wants. So we went to pickup our girl and here is our story ... When we went to pick her up she had a bald spot on her head. I asked about it and was told it was a fungal infection that was cleared up and that during her next shed cycle the fur would come back. I continued to ask questions about it and then he got snippy at me and said "well I have other dogs if you don't like it". I replied with "I didn't think you had any other Brody (dad) pups that were female and black" and he confirmed. So we took her home because we were already in love with her. I took her to the vet within their required timeframe. My vet said the infection was not cleared up so they gave me medicine. While I was there I was verifying with them about some scar tissue in her ear (which just looked like a scar from puppy play) and they said "well that probably happened when her ear was damaged or torn." I then looked and found that her ear is misshapen. This was never disclosed to me and honestly I didn't notice it because I was so worried about the bald spot. We have now been through a growth cycle and no hair has grown back. Through this entire process I kept the breeder informed with only one response which was one sentence long. After that he completely ghosted me including blocking me from their FB page. In addition, we were promised paperwork within 3 months for AKC and have never received it. Lastly, she is tiny (only 45 lbs) which wouldn't have been an issue for me because I know you never know exact size but she is small enough it is leading me to think she was the runt and that was not disclosed. Quite frankly I probably wouldn't have even questioned this if the other things hadn't happened. All of the above has me questioning the trustworthiness of them. So not only did I drive 7 hours each way for this dog but I paid a lot of money and then proceeded to have 4 non-typical puppy vet visits after picking her up due to the infection on the spot on her head. We fell in love with her right away and she is part of our family however she is not what we expected and definitely not what we paid for. Something was different this time around. After loving this breeder my first time around I am now at the opposite end of the spectrum.

We got our Ruby, our 1st Kisholm on March of 2018. She has been a really good dog. She is gentle with the kids, and she is very defensive of the kids as well. If someone stops by that she doesn't know she will bark and gruff and can be very intimidating. These dogs are well worth the price and we will buy another from Kisholm when the time is right.
