AdventHealth Specialty Care at Ottawa: Chris Koster, MD, FAAP

My husband works as a pharmacist, and I am employed as a social worker. Stay away from Dr. Koster! I am filing a formal complaint with the Joint Commission, UnitedHealth, AdventHealth and the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.

Do not take your children to Dr Chris Koster in Ottawa, he spreads misconduct and misinformation to patients. Very unprofessional and unsympathetic... He has a biased opinion and ignores modern science. He is extremely uneducated when it comes to breastfeeding mothers. My lactation consultant has proven him incorrect numerous times. He is disrespectful and will undermine you and call you names if you have a different opinion than him.

So thankful Dr. Koster and his clinic staff were able to squeeze us in at the last minute. We love him, his nurses and especially Joette who is always pleasant and accommodating. Highly recommend this office, so happy we switched over to him. When they say they will get back with you they do, not days later but the same day. I've never asked a question he hasn't explained thoroughly and I've never felt rushed. Thank you Dr. Koster and staff!

Do not take your children to Dr Koster. Hes not patient at all with special needs children. My daughter is only 3. Shes terrified of doctors. And he gets frustrated. We went in for a cold that was lasting over a week, her cough was bad. And she was scheduled to have surgery a couple days later. He tried to look in her ears too(prone to ear infections) and she does fight it. But he said there was no ear infection. Then he just said its a virus. Didnt offer any rsv test or anything. Then I asked him about getting diapers covered by insurance. My daughter is special needs. Gets ssdi. We just moved here, I have all the paperwork stating shes already been diagnosed with autism. And hes like we dont know shes autistic. We havent done an evaluation. Well its in her health records. She gets ssdi already. Shes already been through all the hoops to get disability. And he said nope. Theres no way shes been diagnosed since she just turned 3. Literally arguing with us. He just acted like he knew everything and that we were dumb. Even if she did have to go through the testing again I wouldnt let him do it. He has no idea what hes doing. And my daughter was terrified of him. Also. I asked about the survey since my daughter was sick. He told me not to even tell them she was sick. Shes coughing. With a runny nose. Theyre obviously going to know. I definitely will not be returning. Ill make the travel to Lawrence. Screw this place. Also. Just an update. My daughter had surgery. And the ent doctor that did it said her ear was definitely infected. And it had been infected for awhile, so Dr Koster lied.
