Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Lake Charles Sulphur

The power went out in the morning during a big storm. We were still able to have breakfast and coffee. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They were apologizing for the inconvenience when it was totally out of their control.

Another sleepless night on a Marriott torture chamber mattress. We're roadtripping across the US and this is our 3rd night in a Marriott property. I thought Marriotts were supposed to be the best!? Checking in the desk person assured us this hotel had been recently "updated"...really? The mattress was so worn out it was like sleeping in a hammock. It destroyed my back. The shower stall was breaking away from the wall and the the shower head was like being under a garden sprinkler - not enough water pressure to rinse the shampoo out of your hair. Curtain rod was broken and curtain didn't reach far enough to keep the water in! The sheets were like sleeping in sandpaper and the A/C unit sounded like a jet plane. No electric outlets near the bed (although there was a clock radio from 1984 with a blindingly bright display! seriously, does anyone even use a clock radio anymore? and it was plugged into an outlet behind the headboard that couldn't be reached!). The cute little modern nightstands are too small to put anything on. And how is that hotels haven't heard that a room needs to be dark and quiet for a decent night's sleep? Even with the curtains drawn there was so much light seeping in. Every other bad thing mentioned in others' reviews are also true. Too many things to list. Well...onto the next stop and the next Marriott property. I'd cancel all my future reservations and stay at a Best Western if they weren't all booked up! PS I think the gigantic roach is maybe an outside kind of bug but still...
