We were blown away with the Jewelled Turret. Especially the breakfast. It's impossible to not feel at home here. This was the highlight of our trip. Walkability: Very close walk to the main strip in Belfast.

Our stay for several days in September 2023 at Jeweled Turret Inn was relaxing, homey, comfy and exquisite. Cathy and Carl are consummate hosts; the care and detail they put into making a relaxing stay for guests knows no bounds, from the breakfasts to the old-fashioned and charming decor. The Inn is close to the center of Belfast, which is a great, artsy little city to stroll and explore. The Inn makes a fine base to venture to Acadia, Camden, Rockland, and many other mid-coast Maine destinations. Rooms: We stayed in the Opal Room, which has a queen bed and whirlpool bath, and which overlooks Pearl Street, a quiet side street that is only 2--3 blocks to the center of Belfast. Nearby activities: Relatively easy drive to other mid-coast Maine attractions. One day we lucked into a major "Wiener Dog" festival that featured dachshund costume parades and dachshund races that were delightful and silly. Belfast also has a good arts and music scene going on, depending on the season. Also, the historic Colonial movie theater was recently purchased, and should be renovated and open soon. The Passagassawakeag River side is lovely to walk along, and you may see giant inflatable "rubber duckies" floating in the River. Walkability: Walking distance, with some hilly grades, to restaurants and shops. Food & drinks: Good, hearty breakfasts, plus late afternoon sherry and snacks!

Our stay at the Jeweled Turret was a memorable part of our vacation to Maine. Belfast is a beautiful historic town and if you are a lover of antiques and historic buildings this is the place to stay. Cathy and Carl are wonderful hosts and the homemade breakfast in the morning is wonderful. We extended our stay because we loved it so much! Rooms: Private rooms with a very comfortable bed. Lots of antique furniture and artwork throughout the hotel. Nearby activities: Lots of small businesses, boutiques and consignment shops. Very good Thai food and there is a good brewery on the water, Marshall Wharf Brewery. Safety: Very safe neighborhood. Walkability: Belfast is extremely walkable from the hotel. You are also off of the historic district (get a map from the information center) and can take a historic walking tour of the nearby houses. The Jeweled Turret is one of them! Food & drinks: The homemade breakfast is wonderful. Cathy makes her light and fluffy scones every morning and they are a highlight to an already delicious three course spread. Noteworthy details: Belfast is worth the stay if you are traveling Hwy 1.

This place is a true gem. I am princess-level fussy, and it meets my standards and then some. The bed is just perfect. The rooms are clean. There are so many public sitting places - it would be wonderful for a group retreat! And may I mention the three-course breakfast with fresh fruit and baked goods? My goodness, I relaxed a month's worth in two days.
