Jay seemed professional over the phone claiming he would post everything to make available online, but didn’t and hasn’t returned any phone all or email in a year. He also never gave us the major inspections we paid for. He ripped us off. Don’t hire him. He is a crook.

We hired Jay Otis to inspect a camp we are purchasing in Orneville, Maine. Inspectors are hard to come by in that area, but he appears to be nationally credited. Prior to the inspection, Jay was texting often to confirm the details, date, time, cabin information. One phone call prior to inspection was over 50 minutes discussing the logistics. He seemed thorough. The day of inspection, he arrived in a fully marked van. Appeared professional. Took over 4 hours to inspect our cabin. We could see him taking notes, pictures, etc. he knew we were on a deadline and promised a few day turn around time for a report. As the week passed, I emailed and text Jay - no response. My realtor called, emailed and text Jay, no response. We started to worry something had happened to him. A friend text Jay inquiring about the possibility of an inspection - INSTANT RESPONSE. Upon further review, he has done this to other clients. Completed the inspection, received payment - and then radio silence. Also, googling his name, it appears he was disbarred as an attorney - mishandling funds. We have basically given up ever seeing a report or any kind and have wasted our time and money on a scam artist. I have given Jay ample opportunity to make this right, with no response. HIRE SOMEONE ELSE! We learned the hard way.
5/7/19 - after leaving multiple reviews (some of which were deleted on facebook), contacting InerNACHI (national certification) and the Maine Attorney General, I finally got a response from Jay. A few days later, he did send our report. I still would not recommend his services as I have heard from others that this is his standard operating procedure.
