image i dropped my car off for service. they gave me a quote for repairs over the phone, and stated all repairs were required. after i paid and received my vehicle, the receipt showed that only half the repairs were required, and half were optional/recommended. will never go back here due to their dishonesty

Thank you for your comments. We're a bit confused as our records show you visited the shop over 2 years ago for some brake work. If you had some other work performed recently, is it possibly under a different name. Otherwise, we're curious as to what prompted you to write a review two years after your visit to our shop? To address your specific complaint, however, it is important to understand that we follow the non-profit Motorist Assurance Program (MAP), when making our service and repair recommendations. This is a national, industry program, which specifies whether repairs are "required" or "suggested," based on the vehicle manufacturer's specifications, and the condition of the particular system. This information is available online at www.motorist.org, and is explained clearly on our work orders and invoices. We certainly regret if there was any misunderstanding at the time your estimate was reviewed with you. However, all work was performed according to these industry standards and, apparently, your vehicle has been operating correctly during this time. We strongly disagree with your characterization that we are dishonest. We have been in business for over 36 years, and we take great pride in the service we provide. And, we stand by our work with some of the best warranties in the business. Since it's been over two years, we are not able to confirm what conversations took place, but we encourage you to always speak with our shop manager if you have any questions at all about your service.

image Been going to them for service since I moved to Portland in 1999, back then they were Midas. Never had to take it back to correct anything. I think they're why I drove my Corolla 300K miles and will probably do the same with my Rav4. Always accommodating and professional. They have taken care of everything from normal maintenance to brakes, exhaust, tires and tuneups. Never had a problem.

image great customer service only by russ. russ is a great guy. talks to you like youre an actual human, which isnt always an experience ive had with other mechanics. why is this a 3 star then? i drove my vehicle to the shop the second an issue occurred. i was told that this shop couldnt recreate the issue with the vehicle, and yet, the second I pull it out of the parking lot, the issue starts back up again. this felt very dishonest and kinda scummy considering, it apparently costs $150 to run diagnostics. i understand my vehicle is older and might cause more trouble than its worth, clearly they didnt want to work on the car, which anyone would understand if the shop was honest about it. now I have no way to visit my family 2 hours away and im stuck in maine with an unsafe vehicle and short $150. truly disappointed wouldnt go back.

In speaking with our shop manager, I understand that our technician spent considerably more time than the 9/10ths of an hour we charged you for diagnostics. We identified several trouble codes (DTCs), and we do believe that we provided some value to you in working to resolve your running problem. If you would like to make another appointment, we would be happy to do a further check on your engine, and there will be no additional diagnostic charges. There may be a charge for any repairs that need to be made, but not for diagnostics or any additional inspection. We do truly appreciate your business, and we genuinely want to help.
