A LITTLE GRITTY HISTORYSince 1988, Gritty McDuffs has been creating fine, handcrafted ales and traditional pub fare. From our humble beginnings as a small brew pub in Portlands Old Port, weve grown to become the brew pub of choice for Mainers and folks from away. From the start, Grittys was at the forefront of the brewing renaissance in the Maine. Founders Ed Stebbins and Richard Pfeffer had two simple goals in mind: to create a true, English-style pub serving fresh ales and great food, and to have fun doing it.

This is a hidden gem. The shepherd's pie was awesome, accompanying salad perfectly matched. The sweet potato salad tasty and unique. The cup of chili outstanding. The IPA selection a bit weak. GREAT VALUE OVERALL.

We have it on our video that you & your companion were given a menu & were told that it is extremely busy & patience was required if you wanted to order food. You decided to leave. Please do not take it out on our hard working servers just because you are having a bad day!

The server was really nice and very efficient. The beer was good but not a big selection. The lukewarm food was terrible. The $30 lobster roll (claws only) was the worst I've ever been served. Both meals were flavorless. And.... They're one of those places that tack on an extra fee that they call an "Operations Surcharge" . . . Isn't that what menu prices are supposed to cover?
