As a single woman living alone I so appreciate that they text the picture of the person who is coming to do the work. Adds a level of assurance and safety. Also the work is great!

DO NOT RECOMMEND! AWEFUL EXPERIENCE!
The end result: stairs that looked way worse than when I started. A $1200 bill. TWO nights of poor sleep due to house smelling of high VOC chemicals. Four hours removing all decorative trim that he left sticky with Klean Strip and scraping and cleaning with mineral spirits then soap and water to get rid of the smell, a broken stair tread, a set of stairs in worse condition than before Mr. Handyman arrived, damaged walls and floor outside of the project area, a bigger project, and I still need to buy paint to just cover it (or pay to replace all the treads and refinish everything).
How it began: I needed a set of stairs refinished and their estimate was 6-8 hrs and $780-1000. We confirmed a date, 3 months out, and I reached out the day before since I hadnt heard from them and they hadnt actually booked me. We rescheduled for a few weeks later.
The handyman showed up, looked at the project and immediately left for an hour to go to two different stores to get supplies. He came back and spent another hour setting up dust guarding before sanding 1 step and deciding it had 2 different coatings and he needed to go back to the store to buy Klean Strip Premium Stripper. At this point Im more than $500 in.
He then used the product on the stairs with a ventilator for himself but did not open any windows and I was working from home that day. The product specifically says IMPORTANT: Do not apply to floors or large surface areas because fire and health safety risks will increase dramatically. Then the handyman did not purchase odorless mineral spirits to clean it after use because he wanted to save me the $9 for the product and just work harder.
Mid-afternoon he showed me the stripped stairs and a few sanded stairs. It looked AWEFUL. I did not want to spend more than a day of work on this project or I would have dealt with it myself, differently. I asked him to sand smooth the worst surface issues and get as much done in the remainder of the day. He did not target the rough areas other than sanding the step he had broken, which needs replacing anyway.
Then I had to listen to the handymans life story for more than an hour after he finished working, which was scary and very unprofessional. Not someone I want back in my home. Side note it was shellac and the handyman clearly didnt know how to deal with it. They eventually sent an actual flooring knowledgeable handyman to give an estimate on what it would take to fix it and he estimated another full day and was very confused about what the first guy did. So, Mr. Handyman really should have estimated $2500 to refinish some old stairs to an attic?
