The prices that this company charges for supplies is outrageous. They did fall and spring maintenance on our unit, and both times found broken parts that they needed to replace. Both times, this required them to refill the freon. In the fall repair, the freon cost us ~$60/lb (average), in the spring repair, the freon would've cost us a whooping $120/lb! Never mind that this charge is on top of the cost of the check, the part, the warranty fee, and the repair. I wound up calling another company, who, even with a $100 fee to check the system, cost us $500 less AND gave us a temporary fix so that we could have AC while we waited for the part to come in. I strongly recommend a less shady business (our HVAC was working FINE both times before Barstow came out to give it a once over... smh). Installation of 3 mini-split modules. The team was fast, friendly, and efficient. They are tidy and respectful of the home. A small leak in one unit led to a follow-up visit the same day as my call, and it was taken care of while I was out of the house. Overall an excellent experience and the mini-splits are working great. Barstow and Sons was the best value by far among many other estimates I obtained for a cooling system.

My mother's a/c unit has been acting strangely and stopped working. After having one HVAC company stop in, pay the diagnostic cost, attempted to troubleshoot the problem, but couldn't get the existing unit to work, they suggested a new a/c unit at considerable cost. Given the magnitude of such an expenditure for someone on a fixed income, as a matter of due diligence, my mother had Barstow try their hand at it and gather their perspective on the inoperable a/c unit. Greg, an experienced technician with Barstow, was able to find a way to get the existing system back in working order with minimal cost. My mother truly valued his professionalism and problem solving skills. What a relief, not only in terms of cooling down in this oppressive heat, but also on the wallet. They were great. My AC died. Austin came the same day and worked quickly. Very nice young man. It was 91 F and now I have air conditioning again. Will definitely recommend them.
