Really disappointed in my experience at the winery today. Weve been coming here for years and my husband and I have a 9 month old baby now. We see kids on the lawn all the time and so its always been a family friendly place, but today I had my son in his stroller and I tried to order a beer at the Red Shedman but I was turned away because I came in with my baby in his stroller. I actually completely understand not allowing kids in there to stay because its a bar environment but I told the bartender I was going right back out to the lawn and he still refused to serve me. I left, and my husband went in to complain and close the tab and we will not be going back to the winery. The bartender didnt even offer an explanation, he just kept saying no. I was very kind and he was just so dismissive. I really hope other parents who frequent this place feel the same way I do and decide to take their business elsewhere. They allow DOGS in the winery, but not children? What about the single parents who want to just get out on the weekend? They just wouldnt be able to go to Linganore Winery.

My girlfriend and I did the VIP tour today and we had a wonderful experience. Chaz was our guide and we were very impressed with his knowledge and personality. Definitely recommend doing the wine tasting to enjoy the sweet and dry options. I am not a wine person but I think I am now! If you cant make it to the vineyard, be sure to look for Linganore wine at your local liquor store .

We did the private tasting 2 weeks ago and it was great! The tour was very informative and there were multiple wines that we enjoyed with the charcuterie board. Fully recommend doing the tasting as part of a date or enjoying the outside area for fun!

Updating my previous 5 star review, I was being generous as the atmosphere tilted the balance of unimpressive wines. That atmosphere has been uprooted by a new policy that feels a bit like those in charge aren't reading the market. The Mount Airy area is one of the best places to raise children and is full of parents looking for places to maintain a social atmosphere within a family friendly environment. The new rules about children not allowed in the tap room or in the winery caught me off guard. I immediately could understand a potential safety risk but when asked for clarification was explained that it was to have more paying customers in seats vs anything to do with public safety. We will be exploring the vast number of options all within a close drive offering a better experience and more welcoming to families. Also, C- wines B+ atmosphere prior to this rule. D+ atmosphere currently. I wish you all well

On 4/6/2024 our group of 6 adults and 2 boys 5 and 7 years old went Linganore Winecellars to celebrate a family birthday. The facility and scenic locations were enjoyable. We rented a heater had 2 outdoor tables and were enjoying the day when we noticed an unleashed large pit-bull >70 lbs walking freely and unattended around the area. The uncaring and arrogant owner who was part of a large group of 20-25 did not provide any concern or vigilance with my motions of the roaming dog for the 3 hours we were there. Our young boys were tossing a frizz-bee ring at least 40 yards from the dog and owners area when I noticed the dog aggressively begin running towards the boys and their frizz-bee ring. I charged towards the boys and the dog luckily peeled off. The owner had NO concern and smiled when I angry asked him to control and leash his dog! Not getting any concern I went into the Red Shedman brewery building an reported the incident and concern to the very responsive supervisor who promptly said he would address the issue. He subsequently came over to our area saying the dog was now leashed and owner said never was loose. I am a life time dog owner and LOVE dogs. However, if a venue allows pets at the location there must be Oversight and Security controls to insure vigilance and protection of the customers and business. In its absence, children, customer and pets are at risk of injury/stress/conflict going forward from unleashed/controlled pets from predictable self centered, selfish, uncaring and/or irresponsible owners!

Hi Kelsey, we want to apologize for your experience, and we thank you for making us aware of this situation. We pride ourselves on being one of the more family-friendly wineries in the area. Due to limited indoor seating, our new weekend policy allows children inside for use of the bathroom and for their adults to purchase items for use on our lawn or fire pit/table reservations. We will ensure that the brewery staff completely understands these policies, so this doesn't happen in the future. We apologize again for your experience, and we do hope you return.

Hi Petro, we want to apologize for your experience, and we thank you for making us aware of this situation. We pride ourselves on being one of the more family-friendly wineries in the area, but due to our limited indoor space, we have had to implement a recent policy change on weekends to not allow children to stay inside for the duration of their visit. Children are welcome inside for use of the bathroom and for their adults to purchase items for use on our lawn or fire pit/table reservations. This weekend policy change did come about in part due to children running around unattended, and as you mentioned, this can create some unsafe situations for everyone. We will ensure our staff is well versed in these policies to better educate guests about these changes. Our staff work hard to create a welcoming atmosphere and provide suggestions on wines to suit everyone's tastes, and we are disappointed to hear we did not live up to those expectations during your visit.

Hi Joe, we apologize for your experience and thank you for making us aware of this situation. We do welcome dogs, but they should be absolutely leashed unless in our on-site dog park. We have signs posted and information on our website about this policy as well. Thank you for alerting one of our team members. Throughout the summer, we typically have staff positioned on the lawn to monitor for behaviors like this and we will be sure to staff those positions earlier in the year. We again apologize for your experience and hope to welcome you back again soon.
