I sent my child as soon as he reached the target age (late 2 years old). Within a month, the principal asked me to immediately transfer to another kindergarten. How about this one because it's cheap? Another kindergarten I was recommended to was one that showed DVDs during childcare. At Renaissance, we had a pre-school tour, and I think we were able to make some predictions by looking at the children's behavior at that time. The child is interested in many things, such as climbing the stairs of the church on the first floor and not being able to sit down when asked to do so. Even if you pay attention, it won't get through. The reason was that he couldn't take care of it. Parents take turns making the snacks for snack time. In my Japanese sense, I prepared a lot of vegetables for the children who wanted to eat a lot of healthy vegetables, but the principal complained that the boiled carrot sticks and cut-out vegetables you made were too much. What was said was something that could be interpreted as being said. The reason we Japanese people are forced to quit is that there are other children from non-English speaking countries, which makes it difficult. Although the principal could understand what the children were saying, he also said that they could not speak Japanese. However, there were some Japanese teacher trainees as well. Children under the age of three cannot understand what adults say, no matter what language it is. That's normal. Children are the ones that various adults patiently teach and understand. Do you feel lucky to leave this kindergarten early? Do you think I should say it first? Do you think they should be taken care of properly? The reason for the 3 stars is because I was allowed to quit early. Anyway, there are kindergartens in Amherst that provide good childcare, such as good Japanese kindergartens. Please be patient and tour the gardens and choose carefully. Children who have had this experience are now able to find good kindergartens and grow up.

My son just finished his second year at the Renaissance School and we will all miss it so much. Renaissance is a warm and loving place where kids get to play and learn by following their own interests and curiosity. Ms Dotty is so thoughtful and purposeful in how she puts together the curriculum, arranges the classroom, and talks with the kids about their developing social and emotional abilities. We really felt that our son was well taken care of here.

We have been sending our son to Renaissance since he was age eligible. We chose Renaissance based on its proximity to UMass (a stone's throw!) and affordability. When I learned that Miss Dottie used to run the lab school at UMass, I was sold. I feel that people who teach aspiring teachers are up to date on best practices and truly dedicated to the field. We have been very pleased with the school. They have a really great staff to student ratio. There are a lot of interns from UMass, which is very exciting for the children. The class is incredibly diverse, with almost all of the children speaking different languages at home. I would highly recommend it!

My little girl attended this preschool last school year. Ms Dotty and her staff were absolutely wonderful! My daughter had attended the public school preschool the year prior to joining Renaissance, and she continued attending the public pre-school while at Renaissance (Renaissance in the morning, public pre-school in the afternoon). My daughter flourished at Renaissance - never shy or quiet, my daughter learned to be more considerate of her peers and respectful of adults. The renaissance curriculum is more flexible and geared towards social interactions and play than the public school so I was not expecting a boost in her academics but I was happily surprised. My daughter was a little behind the average pre-schooler when she solely attended public pre-school, but she caught up to her peers after attending Renaissance. The environment and people at Renaissance are caring and invested in the children. The pre-school had a nice big outside play area and the inside is set up to allow for multiple times of imaginative, constructive, and sensory play. The staff changes the rooms periodically so that the children have a camping area, or a forest, or an office, vet clinic, etc, etc, etc. there is always something new and tied to what they are learning (like the Chica-Chica-boom- boom tree they built together last year). I highly recommend this pre-school. I only regret I can't reverse time and have had my older children attend too.
