I wish I had looked here first. I called Mike to give me an estimate. After he finished, I told him that I wanted another estimate. He then said that it was a "service visit" and charged me $250. He was in a great hurry to do the job before I could get another estimate. What's worse, he was ignorant of the current code, and gave me an estimate that was twice what I ended up paying. (I did ask him to provide me with an estimate of what it would cost with the newer code, but he never responded.)

He originally quoted me roughly $300 for a job to cut and cap 2 copper pipes. He did the work which was done fine. No leaks or issues there. However, I had to call his secretary multiple times to get the bill and she kept reassuring me it would be sent. Finally the bill comes along months late and its $572. Nearly $600 to cap two copper pipes?? And he needed a paid helper for it? What a rip off. That's higher than union plumber rates and I know since I used to be a billing coordinator for a mechanical contracting company. Service: Plumbing pipe repair

Mike Lawrence was recommended by my sister realtor and because she referred mike and saying how honest and professional he was we didnt bother doing our own research which we normally do before we hire anybody by checking other customers reviews and going on BBB for complaints and ratings. Mike Lawrence never told me how much he charged an hour and we thought it was like a normal rate like $150 no his rate turned out to be more like $300 per hour which was never discussed he bought me a very expensive toilet that cost over $500 and it wasnt even top of the line and a faucet that was around $300 that I never asked him to do . He didnt provide any receipts when I asked him for it he said he gets it from his supplier and if anything goes wrong he will fix the problem free of charge. He had an issue with installing the toilet because the flask was cemented from my floor guy but instead of telling me or my sister he ran into a problem he just kept on working no communication with us at all and billed us for his time and when my sister asked him why didnt he discussed with us first to see if we want to continue the project he just said well I figure you just want it done no matter what the cost was Well that lack of communication and not able to use the original faucet that I bought and playing with that faucet for over an hour to find out the faucet was defected is not what I call an experience plumber . To make a long story short he ripped us off big time I wanted to vomit when I saw how much the bill was frigen $2700 yes $2700 to install a toilet and hook up a faucet and he over charge me for a project that was going to happen in the future. Who does that charge you for a job that wasnt being done yet. My sister called him and he kept saying Im not ripping you off I was there for 5 hours and I had to pay another guy who was there with me. Because he charged us an extra $600 for a job he didnt do yet. The final bill was $2100 he didnt give us a break at all and he thought he was being fair are you frigen kidding me. To top it off even more he never went to Framingham town hall to pull a permit on this job and we paid him $250 to get a permit pulled that right there was a rip off too. Town hall told us since he took over 6 months to file the permit they will need to cite him $100. So please anybody who wants to get ripped off please use Mike Lawrence But If you want a good professional honest good person he is not the guy for you. listen to these negative reviews they all experienced the lack of professionalism from this one plumber do yourself a favor and do your homework or you will be very disappointed like we were and ripped off big time $$$$$

I've hired Michael twice, once in 2013 and then again about two weeks ago. He is very polite and speaks calmly and gains client's trust. Unfortunately he then takes advantage of it. In my opinion Michael will give his clients the impression that their project will cost what they have in mind, then they will get his bill and a huge surprise. A simple installation of a new garbage disposer costed me $300 just because he refused to say how much he will charge me since he "DIDN'T KNOW" what they cost and kept repeating "it shouldn't be that much". If you want to do business with him I suggest to: 1- Define the parameters of your project and then get an exact quote for the job, preferably in writing. 2- Make sure he saves all his receipts for parts and equipment and gives them to you before you pay his bill. However do expect for his parts to cost more as I suspect he gets a kick back from the supplier he deals with. The only good thing I can say about him is that he did return my calls right away and he did do the job fairly quickly. Then again I think if I had said to install the garbage disposer I pickup from local Lowes or Home Depot, he probably wouldn't have been so quick to finish the job.
