I was in on Saturday and it was discovered that I need a warranty repair on my brand new Sienna. I was informed that I would not be able to drive my car until it was fixed and that they offered rentals. They are making me pay for the rental for every day, except one. Since the actual repair only takes one day, they cannot cover my rental beyond one day, even though they have my car in their possession from Saturday until Tuesday, maybe Wednesday. The service department is closed on Sunday, and I was informed that the part wouldn't be ordered until Tuesday, so I'm paying for a rental for my car to just sit on their lot for 2 days. I told them it is not justifiable for them to only cover one day of my rental if they're holding my car hostage on their lot. Ron told me that's just the way it is and they're only able to cover the rental for the time it takes for the actual repair.
Ron quoted me a rental for a Sienna since that's what I drive but informed me that I could get a cheaper rental, $30/day cheaper. After we'd signed all the paperwork, I was informed that there were rules to the rental, one of them being that there are no pets allowed in the rental. I drive my dog to and from doggy daycare every day and was never informed of this at any time before signing the rental paperwork. Eric responded, well it's not my fault. Well, yes it is if you're not being upfront with customers that there are rules to the rental. I informed him that we would have opted for a smaller rental if we knew the dog could not be in the car.
I'm being asked to pay for the repair through the rental! This is not warranty coverage at all. If my car I purchased 5 months ago is undrivable, I should be offered a car to drive at no cost, until mine is fixed. I should not be made to pay for the repairs through hidden costs of rentals.
