    Worst experience ever !! Was downsizing and wanted To sell my entire train collection from American flyers in the 50s and 60s to modern day Lionel. Was told by representative to bring my train collection in and after evaluation would get a fair price. The owner took one look at my packed SUV and offered me $350. I was shocked, but took the offer because I didnt want to unload everything again. There were a number of New train sets and cars, unused and still in the boxes and a lot of vintage American flyer and Lionel. I was flabbergasted. There was no evaluation of the entire collection as was promised, and only had a visual check for 20 seconds. I was Upset and called back a day later And spoke to the employee that told me there would be an evaluation. A Few days later, I received a letter from That same employee, which Stated that after evaluation, I would be contacted and get a final dollar amount. This was in mid October, now it is early December and I have not heard back from them. I called about a month ago and was told theyre waiting to see what they sell for. This is no way to operate a business especially when you promote yourself as a largest Lionel store in America. I would advise anyone not to shop here. April 8, 2024. FYI, the reply from Charles Ro, was full of errors, plus he called my review "Slanderous" !! I tried to speak with owner last week, but could only get "Butch". My train collection was not "Thrown into bins", as claimed , and there were very many vintage complete sets of Lionel and American Flyer. I could not post all my photos or my inventory list, but will post one on this review. Many sets were still in original boxes, sealed. Also, hundreds of dollars of Fastrack in boxes and sealed. Long story short, it took me almost 2 weeks to load up my SUV with my trains ,as I have mobility issues, but was told beforehand by "Butch" , that trains would be accepted at store, evaluated , and then I would get an offer for collection. Instead , Charles Ro came out, took a 10 second look at my car contents and just came out with $300 amount, without inspecting anything. I asked for more and was offered $350. At that point, I was exhausted, said ok. Bill of sale was written out which included a copy of my Driver's License, email, and phone #, So, for Charle Ro to say he didn't know how to contact me is incorrect. As far as calling back, I called the following day, explained to Butch, that he had said collection would be evaluated , which it was not done carefully, and I felt that he misrepresented what would happen. I received a letter, the following week , stating that the collection would be reviewed and later would get an update to make things right, this was written by Butch and postmarked Sept 27, 2023. Well, I never got a call back, but kept calling Butch, every few weeks, to months. I never got the second offer of additional $350. Last week , I called to speak with Charles Ro , after reading his review in which he accused me of SLANDER !! Which , he did in writing and is publicly displayed. I explained to "Butch" to notify Charles Ro, and if I did not hear back within 2 weeks-which would be April 18, I would pursue a libel suit against Charle Ro. Instead, he edited his review and I have not heard back. I left my name, number, and email . The trains and accessories I left at store are well worth into thousands of dollars, plus now I've had my good name attacked with the accusations of SLANDER. I have copies of inventory brought to store + many other pictures. I only gave you one star, would have preferred 0 stars, now you are ( - 0 stars ) would appreciate settling this dispute ASAP, or will seek legal action for libel. Mr Smith’s trains were mostly “thrown” in rubber made containers. Many were not in boxes and had pieces broken off. Items were used and had to be repaired and/or fixed up before they could be put out for sale. For example, one steam locomotive had all plastic stations that hold the rails on broken off. These are non-replaceable so it greatly reduces the value and the desirebity of a customer to purchase such an item. Some items did have boxes and were unused. It would take hours to access all the items, prepare them for re-sale and price them according. Because the items are not brand new you also have to try to determine how long it will “sit on the shelf” until it sells. All factors that come into play when buying used trains. Given this we made an offer of $350.00 he asked for $700.00 but we did not want to pay that much so we told him we would pass. He then decided to accept the $350.00. He signed a bill of sale and cashed the check. He later called and wanted more money. We offered to give him his trains back and he would give us $350.00 back. After a few weeks we started to got through the containers to start to try to get some of them into the store for the Christmas season. We understood that he unhappy and attempted to call him but we did not have his phone number so we wrote him a letter asking him to contact us which he did. He talked to Butch who told him we would send him the other $350 that he wanted in “good faith” but he had to wait until we sold some of the items. We were not obligated to do this but we thought we would act in good faith. By this time, we were in our busy season and trying to sell his stuff in our store. Before we really had a chance to start selling his he wrote this slanderous review on December 6th rather than picking up the phone and asking us how we were doing selling the stuff and when do you think we would be sending him a second check. He wrote this review giving us only one star and telling customers not to shop here. Because of this we do not feel obligated to send him anything as he did not act in good faith towards us. We attempted to make him happy with the transaction but he did not give us a chance.
