So far so good, we just closed so maybe I'll update this after a year. My advice to people looking to build here is to ensure the sales person goes over all your options before "the system is locked" and you can't make any changes (for example: upgrades). What happened to us was, either I learned of an upgrade at the 11th hour (for example upgrading to a 200 amp electrical panel) and barely got it in, or I learned of an upgrade after and wasn't able to include it. The good, bad, but mostly ugly. Review for Pulte Pine Vista of Clarkston Good: Pulte has some great individuals to work with; sales, design, mortgage and title. Very professional, customer focused and responsive. For the most part, except for the vinyl windows & siding, most materials used are of good quality. The design/layout of the homes are modern & open. These are not custom homes; however, they do offer a nice selection of upgrades for almost everything. They do build the homes in a relatively short time frame compared to other builds, but you pay for that in the lack of quality, big time. Bad: We were extremely disappointed in the overall very poor quality of the workmanship. Examples: Interior painting was very sloppy, the cut-in around the trim and ceiling looks sloppy, sags and missed areas. Extremely poor workmanship with the exterior brick; uneven, flashing and weep vents hanging out almost an inch in spots, sloppy concrete between bricks, a lot of chips in the bricks and sills are not level. The kitchen /bath cabinet doors/drawers dont align, and some doors dont open properly because they are too close to the wall. The home was clearly just slapped together. This breakdown in the quality of workmanship is disappointing. My only guess is that there is a total lack of quality oversight of the subcontractors by the construction managers as I am shocked at the things we have found. Ugly: The day you close, Pulte develops the contractor build schedule through completion. They will not deviate from the schedule, even if things get done out of normal construction order. As an example; Pulte did the drywall for my house BEFORE the furnace was installed. Now after 18 months (past warranty) the seams are splitting as a result of not having a furnace installed PRIOR to drywall. I would NOT use Pulte Mortgage. They released the Holdback Escrow without my consent, and prior to all things being fixed. By law, they are supposed to hold until all unresolved items from closing are satisfactorily completed.
