I had a bad experience with Dr. Raquel but an even worse experience with Dr. Paul who gaslighted me after I shared my experience.

TLDR: A Plum Health membership has a high cost with low value return compared to alternatives available to me. I am writing this review in case the information is helpful to people in similar circumstances. I have a PCP and my copay is $30 per visit. However, I felt I hit a wall with certain symptoms to which my PCP was prescribing blanket medications. Due to side effects, mixed results and little improvement in my quality of life, I wanted to pursue a more involved doctor team to find root causes. I was excited when I heard about Plum Healths model - the website specifically advertises access to testing included in the membership and the services page specifically outlines experience diagnosing and treating multiple hormone, digestion and respiratory conditions. This made it seem like a more individualized and thorough approach to healthcare included in the monthly membership fee. I joined Plum Health for $75/month. I had two appointments. The care I received was sufficient, but absolutely nothing additional to the work with my PCP. The reason why I discontinued was that I did not feel the cost was warranted given the level of treatment. Realistically, the level of care was somewhat less than my PCP given that all of the previously diagnosed conditions were shared at onboarding and just assumed without any testing or review at Plum Health. I was really looking for a science based approach to pursuing better health but the visits were generic- advice available over the internet and duplicative of the care already available to me with my PCP. The only medication change came at my own request, not out of any testing at Plum Health. I researched a potential cause of side effects on the internet and made the request. I felt my $75/month could be better spent on health solutions that yielded relief or improvement so I decided to cancel. When I called, the front desk person told me there was a three month minimum and I needed to wait to cancel. I escalated to the sales rep who I spoke with at onboarding because I just really felt it was a misleading model. He agreed to cancel with 30 days notice so essentially I was on the hook for another payment. The doctor I was initially assigned claimed to forward me to another doctor on the team with more experience in areas I was struggling but never provided a method to contact them and then my membership ran out. I never heard from Plum Health again except an email confirmation my credit card was charged. I never made an effort to make an appointment bc I didnt feel the time and effort to get to Corktown would be worth it given the precedent of other visits and clear downgrade in priority once I expressed my intention to part ways. Essentially, once you cancel, youre on the hook for another payment for 30days notice but shouldnt expect the same standard of committed care during that time. In summary, my time at Plum Health was $150 to see a doctor two times to have my weight / pulse / blood pressure taken, receive refills of medications and referrals to specialists that I can receive from my PCP and no additional testing or meaningful discussion to investigate symptoms whatsoever. I saw no improvement to my health. I acknowledge two months is a short time for that to happen but it just isnt reasonable for me to hold on to a $75/mo subscription for that level of care and there was no reason to believe the care would produce results given the generic and low urgency and non-scientific approach. There may be some instances where this membership model makes sense to you but it was an absolute miss for me and I wish Id had honest feedback from the start to not even bother with it. I have a scale at home, a PCP that does the same thing in a more affordable manner and enough bills to pay. The office is clean. Theres parking. Its not worth $75/mo for that. I felt the entire membership was a waste of time, money and (kind of worst of all) hope for relief and improvement working with a doctor team.

I love Plum Health and have recommended the practice to several friends, all of whom now go there and love it too. My whole social circle is happier and healthier because Plum Health exists. This week in particular, the physicians at Plum Health went above and beyond. While my partner was recovering from surgery, Dr. Im made time to see her every single day. I think she may have even taken time out of her lunch break to squeeze us in. Like, what? How nice is that!! I don't even send emails on my lunch break. In addition to making time for us, Dr. Im provided expert care that made my partner feel safe, seen and well cared for at every point along the way. I truly don't know what we would have done without her. The doctors at Plum Health are saints. One time, the electronic prescription system went down and Dr. Thomas physically walked my prescription down the street to the pharmacy so I could get my refill on time. Physically walked it there! With his feet!!! C'mon - what more could you ask for. These people are the best. No question.

I was very impressed and loved the positive, welcoming, yet amazing service provided at plum health, a revolutionary and incredible experience to be able to shadow under Dr. Paul Thomas in primary care. Observing the patients here at plum health and listening to Dr. Thomas articulate, yet friendly interactions towards the patients gave me a lot of insight, knowledge, and gave me a more deeper and powerful understanding on primary care/family medicine and what plum health DPC is about - by providing the best patient-doctor relationships and care that I have seen in Michigan! The concept of direct primary care, learning the history about plum health, and meeting Dr. Thomas is a start for a new beginning in the primary care setting. I highly recommend plum health dpc.
