We recently secured a conventional 30 yr fixed mortgage with Home Loan Planners and despite originally going down a different path to get a renovation loan, everything happened on time
If you need a mortgage to help secure a loan in Grosse Pointe, MI then Mike is a great lender to know! We first met a couple of years back when my wife was selling a property (we're both agents) and Mike was the lender for the buyer. She liked working with him. He's just such a nice guy - easy to get on with a fantastic attitude. He made quite the impression so we decided to use him for our own personal mortgage.
Thanks to his hard work we never needed to extend the purchase agreement and it closed by our contract date so everything happened on time. It took less than 6 weeks to push everything through and with minimum down to maximise cash reserves.
Throughout the entire home loan application process, the communication was 10/10. That's the one thing that definitely stuck about Mike. He always got back to us and made himself available which is a big thing for me. Also very accommodating! I'm unavailable most of the time so we would talk late at night, early in the morning and even weekends which was very helpful. He was a workhorse for us which we really appreciated.
We've made other mortgage transactions over the years but no lender has taken care of us in quite the same way. Thanks to the Home Loan Planners, we have since been connected to a great home insurance provider, who I ended up using to secure my home insurance with a good rate.
Just lastly, I'm also a financial advisor / estate planner and after seeing firsthand how Mike operates, I feel extremely comfortable referring my own clients to him. Mike knows how to navigate the mortgage process and has a deep network of connections to help leverage your assets to better plan for the future. He's proved to be really help to us.

I highly recommend Home Loan Planners to anyone that is thinking about applying for a mortgage and is worried whether now is a good time to buy. Not only did he get me approved for conventional 30 year fixed mortgage for my very first home in Richmond, MI but he went above and beyond by connecting me with a life insurance specialist to ensure that even in a tough market, my mortgage was properly set up with the right income protection to protect me and my family for years to come, no matter what the market conditions are like.
As a first time home buyer you need someone like Home Loan Planers. There were many questions and concerns but as soon as I was introduced to Mike (through my realtor), he and his team did a great job in putting me at ease with everything.
Whilst everyone is panicking about interest rates Mike highlighted the fact that I have the option to refinance as the rates come back down and with inventory being low the way it is, real estate prices will actually be driven up in some areas which I'm already starting to see.
Mike is great at listening to your needs and really understood what was important to me first. I'm new to the mortgage game but having someone like Mike who is super personable and always available, really helped make the process as smooth as possible.
Overall I felt as though he was genuinely focused on ensuring I was super clear about everything and respected the fact I was new to the mortgage application process. He really takes his time with you and has a good personality to match.
Despite all the back and forth between the seller and my realtor, Mike got me approved in a matter of days! I really couldn't have asked for better.

I never leave reviews this long but Mike is a great guy and I respect what he is doing so this is just my way to help you understand what this lender is about. Mike and his team were the first mortgage brokers I worked with and I would definitely use them again. They were a true blessing to my family!
Home Loan Planners went above and beyond to help us close on a home purchase loan for an out of state move to Bloomfield, MI from Illinois and I don't know what would have happened without them.
They kept me and my wife informed and involved throughout the entire mortgage process - Literally every step of the way, Mike kept us in the loop. Special mention goes out to Paulina too who was just awesome.
Between them both, they worked late at night, early in the morning, basically around the clock to help us close in under 30 days and I can't thank them enough.
It's 1000% customer satisfaction from us and our small family are so grateful. They're excellent communicators, informative, extremely caring and really made it feel like we were their only clients.
Even after we are finally settled in, Mike and his team continue to support us. So far they've connected us with a life insurance agent for a term policy and we are now looking into the other tax free retirement strategies thru their contacts too!
As parents of two young children, we feel more confident about their future thanks to the exposure we're gaining to different finance products.

The mortgage game isn't our first rodeo as we've used lenders before but when our realtor (who we respect and lean on) recommended Paulina and Mike at Home Loan Planners there was no hesitation and we were very pleased with how they handled everything!
I know this sounds generic, but the whole refinance loan process, the underwriting.. everything.. was just amazing. Paulina and Mike know the mortgage game inside and out. They did their due diligence at all times and when they couldn't find something, they were making the extra calls to get the job done. I know it sounds so generic, but literally the whole process went so smoothly.
Overall we found them very friendly, approachable and accommodating. They never hesitate to ask if we need something, no matter what time of day or night, - whether it's via phone or text they are always available. They're just very approachable, nice and caring people.
In the end they helped us to knock out some high interest debt we were carrying , reduce our expenses and immediately increased cash flow.
It's not a one trick show with Home Loan Planners. They work with you beyond the mortgage side of things to provide us with financial stability long term and expose us to things like tax free vehicles through a life insurance specialist which we are continuing to explore.
Having used other lenders in the past, I rate this team highly and would definitely use them again.
