This crew was by far the best crew Ive had to come to my house. I have several acres of trees, and Im constantly having work done. After the storm that we had this winter, my 90 yr old magnolia tree was severely injured. They came out, diagnosed, and ran through everything they were going to do to save this tree. They made me very comfortable with the work that they were going to be doing and were so respectful when they were here. They kept me informed the way and left without a trace on my property. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a respectful , knowledgeable, and superior crew.

In short, they were superb. I had a huge, 100' oak with the trunk about 16' from the back of the house with branches hanging over it that started to develop a fungus. I was wary of the hazard of cutting its very heavy branches so close to the house, so I talked to several tree cutting companies about what their tactic would be. Most of them were too vague to give the assurance I wanted. But Al Sexton at SavATree was able to describe their process for how they could bring their equipment through the narrow path along the side, protect landscape lights and sprinkler heads, and cut the tree without any contact with the house, at a competitive price. After accepting their bid, when the weather finally allowed, I watched their well coordinated process unfold. It was clear that this team, comprised of Justin, Gabe, Sandro and Jack, had worked together for a while. They methodically brought heavy equipment to the back, after laying plywood to protect the lawn and pavers and cones to protect lights and sprinklers. Their cooperation was apparent during their steady dialog on their headsets that conducted the almost continuous flow of lumber from as high as 100 in the air, to their chipper and truck on street. Justin was a skilled pilot of the 90 lift he easily flew around the tree. Up there, planning which branches could be used as levers, he chose each cut to be the length and weight that Sandro and Jack could safely reel to the ground for Gabe to pickup with his grappler that he expertly maneuvered back and forth along the narrow track. He was also kind enough to use it to move a couple of fallen branches from another tree to the side of the lot, pull out an old rebar pole and clear some snow on the drive while waiting for other equipment to set up. The whole team collaborated to dismantle the tree down to a thin stump in just under 3 days. In the end, what started as suspense over a process that was fraught with risks for collateral damage, progressed into marvel at the well choreographed sequence that allowed the complete removal of the massive tree, with just some faint tread marks on the lawn and a layer of sawdust on the leaves as the only remnant of the effort it entailed. Updating this review, since I later decided to have them grind the stump. That process in a challenging location also went very well. Will had no problem directing their grinder, again along the narrow path, to the stump which was directly abutting patio pavers and close to a sprinkler head. He put up a screen to shield the patio from all of the saw dust and expertly maneuvered the grinder to leave all the nearby pavers and the sprinkler head undisturbed. What was also great was that their grinder and method was so effective that it reduced the dense stump, not to chips that might amounted to a large pile, but essentially to saw dust, that spread evenly over the yard behind it. Another great experience with SavATree

Rael and his crew did an excellent job from initial quote to completed work. They provided a general health and clearance pruning for 2 mature River Birch on my property. Had several companies quote this job and I'm very happy I went with SavATree!

About
SavATree

SavATree was founded by Ralph Robbins in 1978 with a single objective in mind; to save trees from the devastating effects of repeated defoliations by the Gypsy Moth Caterpillar (Lymantria dispar). While this moth was accidentally introduced into the United States by French entomologist Leopold Trouvelot in 1868, it was not until the late 1970's that the population exploded in the Northeast. Ralph, a graduate of Paul Smith's college and entrepreneur at heart, saw an opportunity to make a difference in support of tree preservation and care.
