I want to start by saying everyone in the office was very nice and polite. They did do plenty to try to accommodate me. They did not charge me for added time taken to conduct my initial exam, cleaning, nor reseating my crown. HOWEVER, they minimized the trauma of my injuries and seemingly pushed me to obtain a prescription for benzos to reduce dental anxiety and on top of that ripped a two-month old crown right out of my face unintentionally. A little context: I sustained serious injuries in 02/2022, resulting in a broken jaw in two places, one of which was repaired with metal implants (screws, plate), and ~7 fractured teeth, which were then crowned and restored at a practice in the Twin Cities. I (naturally) still experience some nerves doing anything related to my injury. I still have a lot of sensitivity in my mouth and nerve issues... My case is a complex one; I understand that. The staff at Kopper reviewed my case with me; they listened to my concerns (nervousness, pain, sensitivity). They had the knowledge they needed to avoid what happened next. After finding some remaining cement on one of my crowns, they applied so much force trying to remove it that my crown flew out of my mouth (literally), jarring the hygienist against my face. They assured me that crowns "fall" out all the time, but this was ripped out. I began to have a panic attack - sobbing and hyperventilating. They stopped their work. They (second time) suggested that "if I was going to be this anxious" at appointments, I should take Ativan at minimum or a Valium (while I was still actively having a panic attack). Eventually, I calmed myself down and completed the procedure of replacing the crown. For the third time, they suggested Ativan or Valium. Mind you, of all of the procedures and dental work (over 25 appts worth) I had endured since my injuries, not one provider outside of Kopper had EVER mentioned benzos for anxiety. 2 visits at Kopper and they've recommended it 3x. To top it all off, the next day my jaw is swollen and sore from the force used against it. I would NOT recommend Kopper if you have had previous dental trauma, have anxiety, and perhaps even if you have extensive restorative dental work.
