About two years ago, I searched for 1950s era Fiberglass "retro(grade)" lampshade companies. Enter Modilumi... _______________ I'm an occasional (versed) amateur "DIY person" with an affinity for elements of wood, metals and glass while imagining and creating uniquely custom works with intriguing VISCREAL effects for family and others. The greatest and most stimulating challenge happens to be procuring the right items to bring together... a keen (innovative) "eye", as well as A LOT OF TIME goes into "fueling" one-of-a-kind creativity. Anyways, I purchased three customized lampshades from Modilumi to suit specific lamp projects I had in mind. Welp, 2 out of 3, exceeded my expectations (see photos.) --------------------------- At separate times, I ordered the same shade motif-design... an ancient reciprocal-circular Semitic [Afri]can pattern currently offered in different colors; "black", "white / creme", "red" and "blue." Modilumi's attribution reflects an even light distribution, made with an artisan's hand of quality and craft. Um... except the inconvenient fact that the "red" shade casts a somewhat annoying hue while illuminated. That "red pinkish" hue, tho! Btw, I use 25-watt bulbs in accessory lamps, which work perfectly for projecting an appropriate amount of light in the room... I suppose the "red" shade might be improved by incorporating an inner liner, (silver matte foil?) but it's really too late. The lampshade CANNOT be taken apart to have it reworked by any means. I didn't bother contacting Modilumi and sounding like an idiot, after-the-fact. As it stands, the "red" gives a parlor glow (somewhat "brothel-room") lighting effect. My wife and others are a bit more tolerant of this "red hue" than I am. So, I've removed, stored and REPLACED it with the "white-creme" color, which is a good choice. I suppose the "red pinkish" hue could work in the right setting. (If not illuminated), or maybe a selection for someone else, just not us. What's the point, anyways, if it annoys you?!? I don't fault Modilumi for my color selection, but the "red" ought to have been much deeper in color saturation. The photo of the "red" on their website appears much darker than in person! Kinda misleading, actually. This is disappointing. I consider these as "investment" lampshades because they are expensive! Each lampshade arrived via UPS Ground, carefully and professionally packaged. My scorecard: ______________ "Red" = 2-Stars "Black" = 5-Stars "White / Creme" = 5-Stars

We had a great 1950s lamp base, but the shade had seen better days. After searching online for someone to custom made our shade, we made an appointment. The 5- hour drive to Minnesota was worth it! Great variety and craftsmanship. I wish I could post our pictures!!
