I think the nursing care they provide here is pretty awful to say the least. I am a nurse myself and by far the worst place I have worked. Needless to say I didn’t say more then a week. And they even pay employees to do good reviews.

I started my career at Hillcrest of Wayzata in Aug 2018. I want to recognize the directors of the facility. Everyone's number one priority is patient care. We strive to make sure that a resident's stay here not only meets the physical need, but the emotional need as well. We all truly care about each individual that walks through the door

Our experience at Hillcrest was terrible and we felt it was so unsafe for our mother to remain there we ended up working with local healthcare professionals to help moved her to another facility as soon as possible. Once we started digging into other options and talking with local professionals, it was clear that they all seemed to be aware of the subpar care at Hillcrest and encouraged us to get our mother to another facility as well. We are an educated family in the area of healthcare ( my brother is a physician and I am a psychotherapist as well as a hospital liaison) and what we witnessed happening to our mother and the other residents was horrifying: Entering the build to find a woman screaming “help me help me” from her room with no staff responding so I tried find staff to tell them she needed help (I couldn’t find anyone) When I got to my mothers room to find her facing the foot of the bed, tangled in her sheets and call light and begging for a drink of water because no one was checking on her and offering her something to drink (they said they stopped leaving cups in her room because she was weak and would spill them. Let me just add that she is fully cognitive just quiet and I found this situation Intolerable unbelievably cruel and a gross violation of state regulations. My poor mother waited more than 3 hours for pain medications while I repeatedly stopped by the nurses desk 3-4 times begging the nurses to please give her her medications! For 3 days there were no towels or washcloths and when I asked for a washcloth to wash my mothers face I was told by the CNAs that they were out of washcloths and towel because their washer was broken and I should just use a BIG PILLOW CASE to wash her face like they were doing! There was no staff checking on my mom during our visit from 7 am to 6 pm o multiple days so I would have to toilet her. No working call light in the bathroom- I guess that’s why you hear patients yelling for help. CNA said they were “short staffed” and couldn’t help everybody......whatever that means?! I saw medications regularly left unattended on the med carts while standing at the nurses station which is a state regulation violation. I heard a man fall down with a loud yell and crash in his room and he started screaming for help and I had to go find staff (who were standing in the great room talking) and tell them to come immediately to help the man laying on the ground in his room. Another patient was being wheeled down the hall after a shower when the caregiver ran over the towel covering him and that pulled the towel off leaving him sitting naked facing me and other visitors on Mothers Day in the hall way. The care giver kept pushing him Naked in his wheelchair and just finally turn into his room. This is a dignity violation for that patient. Finally, I found the unresponsiveness of the Director of Nursing and the Building Administrator to be a clear sign of how uncaring and uninvolved the leaders in the build are. No wonder the staff is the same. When looking for a facility I encourage you to find a better place for your love one to go!
