Crossroads Westside Apartments

Sorry for the long description in advance: I put in an application after viewing the property in February, but ultimately decided against staying due to a poor experience with the leasing office. The property appeared nice overall for what that is worth. To give added context, I have an ESA letter issued through the VA since Im a veteran. After their third party approving service denied my ESA letter because it was issued just outside a year, I had to scramble to find another apartment. I was honestly surprised my letter was denied in the first place but have since gotten it reissued to avoid any future issues. When they denied my letter and the leasing office did absolutely nothing to help me with the situation, I requested my money back. The lady told me the check would be mailed to my old address but I later reached out because I had not received a check. I set up a change address request before I moved out of my previous residence to avoid any delays. When the lady replied, i was told the initial application fee payment failed but they sent the check. I verified the payment did not appear on my statements but have not received the check they supposedly sent. I have informed delivery through USPS so I know what comes to my mail and Ive been waiting since February. Instead of calling me to easy verify that I indeed never received a check, they sent it to collections. I even offered my personal cell in the email when the lady initially claimed I owed them $300. So, not only did this leasing office cause a bad enough experience for me to refuse living there, they reported a $300 amount to collections. Such a weird thing to do. Be very careful dealing with these people. Thankfully, I found a much better situation. Its crazy that this is acceptable behavior.
