Downtown Frames

The custom frame businesses I have used are no longer in business, Wallflowers and The Frame Station. Downtown Frames is the only custom frame business I can find in St. Joseph. Hobby lobby and Michael's are not a place to get a custom frame, in my opinion of course. I don't go downtown very often and was hesitant but I have found me a NEW HOME. I had a piece of art that my 44 year old son drew when he was 8 or 9 and a Pine tree I designed with buttons. They were both challenging but turned out perfect! I picked them up today and couldn't be more pleased. I will taking all my projects there from now on for just that personal touch a professional can give you.

When big name craft stores said they couldnt help me, they designed me a perfect match and had my custom made product ready the same day I walked in. Perfect example of why shopping local is the way to do it.

They were very professional and helpful. The gentleman that helped me choose everything was great at choosing what would look good given the picture and the idea I already had when I walked in. Bonus in my Historian heart is the lady's credentials, experience, and meticulousness. I forgot to call and let her know a friend was picking it up for me (because arctic weather of course) and she called to verify when my friend stopped by. And the gentleman seemed extremely excited to do my picture, so I wonder if he's an old school wrestling fan :) Either way, the enthusiasm greatly added to the experience. I am a professional photographer who had no framer. Then almost two years ago I found a superb one right here in town. The owner of Downtown Frames, Diane, works with me to select the perfect mat and frame. So far, Diane has framed 20 pieces of my work to my high standards. Since she is a sole proprietor, she "does it all," so no exact date for completion is possible. She works with me, she orders the chosen materials, and then she begins her artistry in framing. Quality takes time, and I am glad to be patient!
