I was over insured by Randy Smith. After discussing my policy with another agent, I learned that I was given a policy that includes protection for HOA's, and I don't live in an HOA. My policy also included landlord furnishings and I am not a landlord, and my house is not rented. The policy was written with $125k of personal property protection and I might top out around $40 or 50k of MSRP possessions. My main structure is insured for $150k, so there's no reason to have a personal property amount over $75k unless the agent is padding their commissions. When I emailed Randy and asked for a phone call to discuss a couple of things we could do to reduce my premium he responded via email 5pm on a Friday, probably hoping I'd forget about it over the weekend.
