Chance LaBoube stopped by my house because Ohm was in the area working on another house. Told me he'd look at my roof and take some pics. He said my roof needs replaced and he would talk to my insurance agent but I needed to sign a form giving him permission to talk to them. So I signed it. It was not giving him permission to "only talk" to my insurance but that I would "enter into a formal building contract to begin repairs for the approved price as paid by the third party, and within 30 days of payment being issued to Property Owner" as I would find out later. On August 2, Mr. LaBoube (and a trainee) came to my house an hour before the set time with the inspector A. Neither of them notified me of the time change until right before they showed up. LaBoube and the inspector discussed how I needed a new garage door, house windows & screens, but that I could not actually have them. The extra items were being requested (and approved) through my insurance, but that I would not actually be receiving them. The inspector said she would be requesting that I get class 4 roofing tiles (from what I understand they are the best). When Mr. LaBoube showed me the tiles I could choose from, he said they were class 3. I inquired about the class 4 but Mr. LaBoube and his trainee said that I could not get the class 4 as they were for 2 story houses and houses that are better than mine. I inquired if the black tiles made a difference in cooling a home and they said they did not. I have since found out that they do make a difference. Once my claim was approved, I asked Mr. Laboube for an estimate. He became unprofessional, argumentative, pushy, and informed me that I had a signed agreement stating that if (his) company and (he) met with the insurance company, went to bat and got everything approved that we (his company) would do the work and did not want to give me an estimate. He also said that if I got an estimate for less than what my insurance allocated that it would be insurance fraud. I called my insurance agent and they informed me that that is not the case. We were set to meet because he kept pressuring me to, but I had to cancel because I am disabled and having a flare of one of my diseases. He did not want to provide me with any information unless we met in person. He called or texted everyday. I did not respond because I told him I was ill. Then, out of the blue, I get an email from Ohm for a Cancellation Fee of $2,078.92. Because of the form that Mr. Laboube said was just so he could talk to my insurance. According to the form, In the event Property Owner fails to timely enter into a formal building contract within 30 days of payment being issued to Property Owner.. Well, it has not been 30 days but they issued me a bill anyway while I am sick. This has not helped my health at all. I talked to the manager, Ryan, and he said Mr. Laboube was in a contest for a trip to Hawaii and maybe exerted too much pressure to make the sale, but did not issue an apology. I am now stuck with Ohm because I was lied to about the sign I formed. I believe they practice high pressure sales tactics and are dishonest. Edit: I ended up spending a long time speaking with Ryan. He apologized for my experience, released me from the contract, and said they put in several insurances so this would not happen to someone else again.
