Aksarben Cinema

Local theater does it right. Yeah, it is a multiplex in the heart of Aksarben Village. They have all the new things a modern movie house requires: concession stands, a bar, and big screens. What it also has are a god location in a happening part of the city. This is an urban experience in which you get Midwestern expectations: friendly staff and free parking. There is plenty of parking on the streets and in lots around Aksarben Village. At night, when the Blue Cross employees leave, you even get to use their parking garage for free. What a deal! The prices are a tiny bit higher than other theaters in the area, maybe 50 cents more on most days. They are a local business and I do not mind paying that little bit extra for someone with a vested interest in the city and keeping their customers happy. It is clean, tidy and efficient. They have automatic box office terminals that actually work (unlike another national chain that just can't keep their's in operation at the mall not far away). They also have a human manning the real box office if you want to pay in cash or just see a smiling face. The nice thing about the concession stand is they have a Coke Freestyle dispenser that lets you pick what you want. I mean, I want a Coke Zero with raspberry flavoring. They hand you the cup and you get to choose the drink and how much ice you want. Who does not hate paying $$ for a soda pop and getting 3/4 a container of ice? Discounts on Tuesday for $% a show don't hurt, either. It is a nice place worth visiting.
