The Wayside Inn

My husband and I went for our 25th anniversary. We were very disappointed. Food & drinks: Waitress wasnt pleasant and food wasnt good at all. No selections on menu esp vegetables. Priced like fine dining but far from it. We wont be revisiting.

I have never left a review but I feel compelled to because this stay was just not up to my expectations. I have been staying here practically my whole life, and I have never had such a poor experience. This is my first time staying here under the new ownership and I am disappointed to say the least. There is no housekeeping service at all, I didnt expect much but I at least expected clean towels without having to ask considering there was a sign in the room saying to leave your towels on the floor if youd like new ones. The room was visibly dusty and dirty. Underneath the bed looked it hadnt been cleaned in weeks as there was a visible layer of dust, there was also a water bottle cap that we did not leave there. Me and my sister are allergic to dust, I could tell the place had not been cleaned because I was very congested the whole weekend and my sister had a rash on her face by the end of our stay. The bathtub in the bathroom was flimsy and felt like it was poorly covered up. The ashtray at both entrances that are overflowing with cigarette butts. A tjmaxx receipt was left in the downstairs common area for the entire duration of our stay. A light fixture in the room did not work. A rag was shoved behind a stack of books, not sure if it was clean or not. The dining area was full of crumbs and there was a used napkin from dinner the night before left under a table. The bar area was a dog kennel/child care center during the day. It was closed off via a baby gate and there were toys strewn about in the a nearby corner. The innkeeper was not friendly at all, she really did not want to be bothered. She lacked basic customer service skills. We said good morning to her and no response. The only good thing about our stay was the breakfast. The morning waitstaff were very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was good, and the portion sizes were big. Overall, very disappointing, I will not be staying here again unless some changes are made.
