image I have had nothing but good experiences over the last year Ive been at Carisbrooke. Jonathan has been helpful, friendly and maintenance has also been great too.

image I have lived in Manchester my entire life and this is the best place I have been to by far! Incredible staff. Incredible service. Very professional. And they are very compassionate about helping! Very clean, beautiful apartments by far the best. Only reason I'm even leaving is for locational purposes.

image I lived in this community for 5 years and LOVED my time there. It was definitely the nicest apartment home for me and my dogs. When I Initially moved to Manchester, the majority of the tenants were elderly couples - but with rising rent prices the tenants have completely turned over to become a community of young families and/or roommate type situations. The change has made the building a lot busier, louder and messier. Despite this change - Maintenance (John and Theresa) have swiftly addressed any building repairs, apartment repairs and cleaned up the remnants of weekend parties - they honestly have more work to do now; than 3 years ago (ehem! give them a raise!!!). Their work helped keep this apartment home and community just as lovely as it was on day 1.
When I received the rent renewal for 2024, the increase no longer made it cost-effective to stay in NH. So, I made the difficult decision to move to MA; and, closer to the BOS airport (My job has changed, requiring significant air travel. Unfortunately MHT isn't ideal). I will always remember my home at 180 Woodbury street with a special fondness - because it was a great place to live.

image A current review may be helpful to prospective renters - The attention to detail begins when entering the property. The tattered American flag is never lowered or replaced.  The "convenient" location is a LOCKED gate (by Carisbrooke) to the many stores and restaurants that abut the property.   "On-site maintenance" is one man who is shared with multiple locations and lives over an hour away. And ... don't call after 4:00 - it's never an emergency.    The heat is shut off April 1st, and the Air is shut off on September 1st-weather isn't a factor-it goes by the maintenance schedule.  So on those 80 degree September days - no air - you need to go out!General cleaning for this 100+ unit building is done by one person only Monday to Friday. No matter the weather, you will walk into 3 "wet floor" signs - the residents move them for walkers, wheelchairs, carts, etc.  Common halls are vacuumed once a month, glass doors and elevators cleaned mostly once a week and common trash at entries are overflowing by Saturday.  You will walk thru trash on Monday morning getting to your car. The interior common windows have NEVER been washed.  The fitness center is a room, with posted hours, no restroom or access to water (most of us pay for a gym). The TV is not connected to service.  The resident function room and the common bathrooms are locked to residents the game room and library have been removed. For $75 per month you get under cover parking.  Most residents park there M-F after 5:00 p.m. and all weekend for free. If you pay for a spot , it's your job to ensure someone in your spot is towed (that is not a maintenance call or an emergency). The property manager does park closest (because they can easily slip out the back door to avoid the residents) - that spot is not available to lease. The building is externally secure, however, any correspondence from the property manager (which oddly is more than a couple times a month) will be taped on your door.  Its an easy way to tell which apartment has no one home.  The security cameras are used against you ie.- "break down the box, you're on camera", etc.)Because everything is locked after office hours, there is no community - you walk in, go to your room and leave when you want to have fun.  Essentially, you pay adult prices and are treated like an impoverished child!

image UPDATE 2: Carisbrooke did end up returning the holding deposit and application fee, so I'll move it up to 3 stars. But I'm still disappointed that it took me giving a negative review and the review receiving a bunch of likes for them to consider refunding the application fee. The property manager I worked with, Jonathan, explicitly told me before I made my original review that he had talked to the owner to explain my situation, and they indicated to him that they were unwilling to provide the refund. Either the property manager lied or the owner didn't want to originally take responsibility for a mistake Carisbrooke at Manchester made. Either way, not a good look.
UPDATE:
Carisbrooke indicated in the reply that the refund was processed, which is quite ambiguous and seems to insinuate that they have returned the application fee. But as of now that is not true! From last talking to management they made it clear they were only willing to refund the holding deposit and not the application fee. I'm still waiting for the holding deposit, and will update this review if I receive either in the mail.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I was extremely disappointed with the recent application process for Carisbrooke. Their website had indicated that there was an availability for a April 1st move-in date, so I submitted an application through their online portal. A couple days later, only after processing my application did Carisbrooke let me know that the actual move in date is not at the beginning of the month, but rather at the end of April, and that there was a technical glitch on the website. I told them at this point I would like to withdraw my application since my job was starting the first week of April and that move-in date would not work for me since I'm coming from out of town. At this point, they told me the application was non-refundable and there was nothing they could do. I even showed them a copy of the application that their system automatically sent to me which had the misleading 4/1 move-in date, and they were still unwilling to take responsibility for errors in their system. Nonetheless it left a very poor taste in my mouth with regards to Carisbrooke. Very disappointed.
