Sales people who ignore "No soliciting" signs then start the conversation with literally "We're soliciting!" and then ask you personal questions and make you uncomfortable at your place of work are not people I would ever buy anything from. Came across as religious solicitors, it was very uncomfortable.

As a former agent of this particular office, I highly suggest that individuals conduct rigorous due diligence when a representative of this office makes any "financial recommendation." Even better, it is much more advantageous to avoid these people at all costs and seek financial advice from a fiduciary. During my time in this office, the managing partner, especially the sales development manager, created a cult-like following with an emphasis on permanent insurance as the gold standard of financial products, quoting misleading claims such as "whole life is a Roth on steroids." Individuals in this office are not trained to provide sound, tailored financial advice. Instead, they are trained to sell products that pay themselves the highest commission. To illustrate the lack of integrity, intelligence, and knowledge of this office and company, I once attended a client meeting with a particular agent. The client, in his mid-20s, with a wife & kid, no life insurance, making $100k+/yr with minimal monthly expenses, had no investments, stating he has a high risk tolerance with an objective of aggressive growth for significant capital in retirement. Given this information, it is clear that this client should have bought a term insurance policy and opened a Roth IRA, investing the difference into a portfolio with great exposure to equities. However, the agent I was with that evening sold him a whole life insurance contract that yields ~2.00% with a monthly premium of $1,000+/mo. This decision will cost the client a significant amount of money due to opportunity cost, illiquidity, loss of purchasing power, and more. This situation is largely blamed on the managing partner and sales development manager, as I previously mentioned. They recruit uneducated, inexperienced, ill-informed individuals who are easily influenced by whatever they claim, resulting in a self-reinforcing cycle of unethical practices. Though I could write a 10-page article regarding all the insanity I witnessed in this office, for the sake of conciseness, I will not do so. The purpose of this review is to shed light on the idiocy of this office and emphasize that no matter how charming, charismatic, and nice the representatives may seem, it's best to avoid them at all costs. Companies like NYL are regulators' wet dreams.
