Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks Fidelity has gone to hell. Surprised at all the negative reviews. I will be adding to that list. This is in reference to when you call for help, not a particular office. (I sometimes do business at the Nashua office and they seem to be compotent and professional). I'm reviewing when you call customer service:Poor service has happened to me multiple times. Sometimes you just get 1 nimrod at a customer service center, but I have gotten so many at Fidelity that I had to write a review. If you expect to get right through, dream on- the hold wait-time is long enough for you to go get your mail AND pour yourself a coffee. If you expect to have the service rep to be able to answer your question, forget it- more often than on, I get "I don't know the answer-I need to ask my supervisor." Then he/she takes off for at least 20 minutes, then comes back with an answer that never gives me confidence that it's the right one. So I call again...same wait time, same song & dance....but a different answer to the same question! This happens A LOT. They are not properly trained and/or are very rude. One arrogant guy had the nerve to say when I asked a follow-up question "We have other clients who need help, too you know..." Years ago, I loved Fidelity. Ever since Ned Johnson (God rest his soul) left the company a few years ago (and his daughter took over), Fidelity has gone way down hill. Sad to see and to experience. I'm telling anyone who asks me about $ NOT to go to Fidelity.

Provided incomplete explanation of how proportional withdrawals from an IRA work. Instead of taking funds proportionally from all my holdings, they only sell mutual fund to produce the amount to be withdrawn. They don't touch equities or exchange traded funds. The explanation re the absence of fees associated with this method of withdrawal was also missing important info. The mutual funds can sell without fees, but I'd have to call, sell equities and pay commissions for ant stocks or ETFs. This wasn't explained at all and wasn't on the forms we completed at Fidelity/Nashua.

Completely unreliable rollover department. I had several hundred thousand dollars being rolled into my company 401k account and the entire department (I spoke to eight separate representatives and their manager, Scott Baker) were uninformed, contradicted each other, and generally made a compete disaster of what is a very common, industry-standardized process. They never called me, emailed me, or reached out in any proactive way - I had to hold their hands for each step of the process, only to be disappointed by their inability to follow directions when I called back to confirm the appropriate steps had been taken. It took me nearly two months to complete a five day process. This culminated in me having to change the closing date on my new home with very little notice, solely to accommodate Fidelity's incompetence. Avoid if possible.
