I came in here at 2:15 on a Sunday and asked for an Italian hero. They gave me a huge ham sandwich on an Italian hero roll with one thin layer of salami and balsamic glaze and a little bit of roasted red pepper. I would not recommend ordering sandwiches from here. However, this deli is continuing a long tradition of making hand made mozzarella. They also happen to make very good stromboli, but it runs out early.

Excellent! It's like stepping back in time once you walk through the door. All the sights and wonderful smells of a real old fashioned Italian Deli. The staff are warm and welcoming and the food is always excellent. There is a relatively rustic area with sturdy wooden tables and chairs where you can eat your sandwich there on the premises if you don't feel like taking your food on the road. You can't find too many places like this anymore and it's a shame. I can almost guarantee that you will be hard pressed to find a sandwich on par with them in all the 5 boroughs. The decor, the excellent service and the amazing food, what's not to love? If you're in the area then you definitely need to take the time to stop by. You won't be disappointed.
