Daruma of Tokyo

Ive been coming to Daruma since middle school. This place is a gem in Great Neck, with the kindest waitstaff of any restaurant. Make sure to get the spicy mayo, eel sauce and tempura flakes.

Cool vibe albeit offbeat decor. Friendly. Seriously delicious vegetable sushi and fresh crispy salad. Love the edamame too

Had high hopes for this Japanese rest that was highly recommended by a friend. Firstly, the poor hostess who was also our waitress is amazing. She juggled the whole restaurant herself, with grace and a happy smile on her face , which was impressive, so 5 stars for her. Unfortunately, the menu was truly lacking, the limited choices wont be attracting me back anytime soon. The spicy tuna was colored quite brightly it was off putting. It did taste good so the bright color wasnt necessary. Shrimp tempura was ok but our son enjoyed it. Unagi don was overly sweet. Sushi sashimi was again suspiciously bright in color. The ambiance has seen better days but was clean. Parking: Lots of public parking at the back. The night we dined there was a free parking sign
