This is for the Neurology Suite - Office 150 particularly
Dr. Hammeds Office.
I prefer to keep my healthcare team within the North Shore LIJ family as via the apps I am able to coordinate care across the network and my doctors can all view my files.
Having said that, when it was necessary for me to see a Neurologist, I chose Dr. Hameed. She was out on maternity leave (unbeknownst to me) so I waited about 5 months to see her. During my first visit we had a 2 hr long social history intake for her to learn about the symptoms I had been experiencing. She took her to gather as much information as possible, offered a differential diagnosis and made her thinking visible around why it was the diagnosis offered vs ones she ruled out.
While the appointment and diagnosis was a lot too process, I felt empowered to have information with which to move forward and receive additional care.
I take nothing away from her and the medical assistants/technicians. Tamara the tech who does the EEG is the consummate professional. She tells you every step of the way what shes doing and why. I truly appreciate the care with which I was handled by her.
Aleeta (Alita) the assistant at check out was the polar opposite. This is now the 3rd encounter I have had with her and she is beyond rude. On this visit she was cleaning her desk, never bothered to make much eye contact and was dismissive when I asked for a letter stating why I couldnt be at work. My recommendation to the team would be to hide her in a back office where she doesnt have direct contact with patients navigating health issues. And if her attitude is in part because of the JW.org pin and their beliefs or lack their of in the health care we are supposed to receive them its a clear conflict of interest making her quote misaligned with the position she is there to serve.
