The Mineola and Haupauge offices are horrendous. The client care is terrible. They leave them alone a lot throughout the day. They are understaffed therefore not enough staff to cover all classrooms. They are understaffed because they treat their staff like garbage. No regard for staff's mental health, refusing them PTO when needed. We all know this can be a very stressful job and employees need time off to re-group from time to time. Clients are the ones who suffer! Do not send anyone here.

Personal interactions with "some" persons with aggressive behaviors but others nice to work with.

If you see an ad on Indeed that says the HIA is having a "job fair," don't be fooled! When you arrive there they tell you you can only apply for one position. That's not how a job fair works! When I went to a job fair in Holbrook a few years back I was able to send my resume to five different places. The receptionist at the front desk gives you about 12 pages of paperwork to fill out, which is ridiculous since they must've asked me about four or five times about my previous job experience and my social security number. Why do you have to know my social security number anyway? When I finished the paperwork over an hour later, I was told that I'd have to wait for somebody to interview me. A half hour later this woman at the front desk starts glaring at me for a while before she asks me if I'm being helped. As I was telling her I was still waiting for someone to interview me, the person who was supposed to interview me finally arrives. When I'm being interviewed I was told that I would be working with the disabled and the elderly, which was a job I did not want. I went on their website to see what type of jobs they were offering, and the job I applied for said nothing about working with the disabled and the elderly. 10 days after my interview I receive a letter in the mail where they told me they've moved to the next step in their hiring process so I wouldn't be getting the job. Thanks for telling me you're not going to hire me for a job I didn't even want in the first place. Now if you could just spell my name correctly that would be great. My name is spelled M-I-C-H-A-E-L, not M-I-C-H-E-A-L as you spelled it. How do you hire people who don't know how to spell the name that was the #1 name for male babies for years? In conclusion this "job fair" is not a job fair so much as it's a job interview, because you can only apply for one position rather than as many positions as you want. What this place is doing is false advertising. If the HIA is having another "job fair" I'll be sure not to waste three hours like I did the day they had their so called "job fair." The HIA's job fair was the worst "job fair" I ever attended!
